Most Cock Things during National Service

With Ipads and GPS there is not much use for topo maps. Also less topo kings liao.

If they get lost with GPS & Ipad2, as in the days of the topo king's....anyway, SAF soldiers...99.9% I would not be suprised, they still get lost!:D

If I am a Malaysian reading this thread, I will get a lot of military secrets useful to any Malaysian planned invastion of our tiny island.

Seriously bro, who would equate SAF cockups with military secrets?

Cock-up, military secret, or reflection of the times?

Case 1. Former Singaporean shortly after finishing NS migrated to OZ for good. Studied there and after nearly 6 years returned to Singapore as an FT. Got called up for reservist. Went to CMPB and told them that it was a mistake and that he was a citizen of OZ. The told him that he is still is required to serve reservist. Turned up at Tengah and realised that he was posted to a classified unmanned aircraft unit. He thought it was another mistake and alerted the authorities. They told him that Singapore has too many ex-Singaporeans and PRs and if they exempt than not enough manpower. He found out that one of the reservist was also a citizen of another country.

Case 2 - Psycologist assigned to work to with Pilots got married to a foreigner. The work she is involved in is highly classified. After serving her scholarship bond, she resigned to migrate. SAF said she is going to be charged for failing to notify the authorities of her marriage to a foreigner. They engage lawyer who then sends SAF the wedding guest list of her marriage that took place some years ago. It includes her superiors, her colleagues and a judge. Lawyer provides photos of the groom with blonde hair. SAF calls her up and tell her that they need to close the case somehow and suggest $200 fine. She already had planned to relocate and organised movers. To save time, she pays the fine. Her new country probably has entire profile of airforce fighting force.

LHY was the owner of the label. Used to hit Merchinta in JB with his mess mates providing cover. Has never changed. Still the same randy and horn self.

Are you sure about this? My understanding and experience is that there's no binding obligation after NSF completed and foreign citizenship secured. I didn't even opt for any foreign citizenship. I could travel in and out of Singapore on a Singapore at will. Only inconvenience was updating of the exit permits as I hold a Singapore passport. I didn't even have to serve any reservist unless I chose to, the profitable one like IPPT where I could collect S$400 for an hour of exercise. Good rate, better than even most lawyers and gangsters. :D

Have heard of Merchinta during NS time, working life, I have never been there, don't frequent such places or equivalent. Is this still around in JB?

Nope no longer in existence as far as I know. I went there twice and it was a surprise that such a place exist. The show changes all the time but the pillars blocked the stage as it was in the centre and there were a few large pillars supporting the roof. Once I watched a Thai Girl (Tiger) show. It was quite shocking and also hilariously funny.:D

Moment you notify that you are migrating, they will put you on the reserve list. You are not required to return. However during the reservist lifecycle, if you return to Singapore and become a resident your NS cycle is reactivated. It does not matter if you have already acquired foreign citizenship. Know a Malaysian PR who grew up here. He went away for Uni and return to Malaysia. He was posted SIngapore when he was 26 or 27. Called for fulltime NS. He got shock of his life. Because he preferred Singapore, he did his NS.

The Principle of Equal Pain.

I see I see. Though I've been through the process, I don't claim to be a legal expert at this. I just know enough for my own cirumstance to put myself through in the most comfortable and profitable manner. :D

Just to clarify - If your reservist cycle is 13 years and you return after 13 years, you will not be activated. For Officers who go all the way to 50, they will stop at 40 years. Anyway, most people are now transferred to reserve list well before their cycle. So you might not even be called.

Cpt. GMS is still liable for recall regularly. He usually defends Singapore in Australia, shooting kangaroos. He says BBQ kangaroo meat is delicious. :D The Australian government is not so amused.

Story of one guards company MIA in Kanchanaburi.

The OC tulan with the CO for Ex Crescendo in the early 90s. So, during company training, he took the entire company out for training for 2 days out of the designated map square meant for his training. For 2 days, the CO cannot find the company and the OC did not report location throughout.....
