You remind me of a Singaporean friend who is a long time bkk resident....his favorite pastime was debating with cab drivers on the best route....and he is always right....he was that good.

However there is really a highway name Narong another common name name is Ekkamia-Ramintra highway as it starts from Ramintra and ends at Ekkamia. 2.5 years ago a new stretch opened from Ramintra all the way to Outring Road or in Thai is Wongwaen (Official name is Kanchanaphisek Road). So now its all the way from Outer Ring Road to Ekkamia.

When you used the name Narong Wangwan I thought you mean Narong Wongwaen. By the way there is also a major road named Ngam Wongwan road and its also a long road running almost parallel with Chaeng Wattana road.

Actually I have been thinking about Chiangmai, but it's kind of inconvenience whenever I need to travel overseas. Bangkok is still where the action is.

Someone told me that many Bangkok residents chose to retire in Chiangmai because it's less crowded & polluted than BKK.

Is there a method to remember Bangkok Highways ? Because I could not read the signs from afar, as quickly as I would have liked, I could never remember when to turn in or turn out of a highway. The expressway in BKK is very confusing.

few weeks ago, hari raya holidays, with friends in Haadyai drove up to sadao intended to cross border to play golf at Black Forest on Malaysian side, both Thais and Sporeans_nobody carried passport, got stopped by young police at check point who insisted that Sporean must produce passport. Actually can just drive by without stopping but happened that day was a bit jam because holiday mah so that young punk got chance to check on us.
Later after came back my friend phoned head police there, was told that the young punk was just posted there a day or two ago and already got backside screw for daring to turn Vee Ai Pee's car back to Haad Yai

Cigarettes from Cambodia? Almost got into this biz years ago but demand side in Bkk gave problems. My supply end was Cambodia.

How current is your info? You cannot waltz in and out anymore between malaysia and Thailand border towns without passport....not after 911 and all the southern violence. You can't do that now without greasing some palms.

As current as last week when I helped someone across. However, there's no point doing this yourself if you have a valid passport and don't intend to overstay or smuggle anything or anybody.

Don't know much about Issan but I see many well-healed farangs on the run in Phuket. Perhaps Bangkok has more of them but not so obvious as Bangkok has a mega large local population.

I am pretty sure it was discovered in the course of 'coverage'. Once into opposition politics, never take such risks. PKMS chap deserved it. Stupid chap. So many syndicates involved in this biz for years and yet are surviving.

Pardon me for being born into a decent sinkee family with no gang experience or black connections even in sinkee itself. In fact i'm the one that's the most hardcore in my immediate family since i do drink whiskey. Rest of the family either are scholars or very staunch christians etc. Therefore if they read any of the stuff you wrote they would go wah you're very bad sia, for me i think not bad ah quite an adventurous life you got. Yet i hope you're not trying to hide anything since you have SS family members who knows you might have gone to jail before. For me no one in my family is a non christian or a gang member or married to a non chinese.
