There are many labels upon the terms of democracy, each believing in FREEDOM, but sadly EACH Earthborn Human has their own DEFINATION of WHAT freedom ACTUALLY means & differs often DRASTICALLY from even the closest Human just beside him/her...
In a nutshell, at its basic level, what Social Democracy means is - ELECTED legislators are given powers to discuss, debate & find SOLUTIONS within a Parliament - TO GIVE WHAT electorate NEEDS, and not WHAT the electorate WANTS.
NO govt can can give what every single individual with diverse needs WANTS. Only a populist govt WILL attempt to do such to gain power. To build a Civilization, what citizens needs can be met, but NOT desires & wants. No govt can be a nanny State or have deep pockets to do so, thus only CRITICAL needs can & will have to be met.
So far, our ELECTED legislators had done their best, & most NEEDS are met, even ANTICIPATED needs, a legacy from our great VISIONARY Founding & Forefathers whom gave us our todays. More can still be done, but it will NEED the co-operation from ALL citizens but NOT those whom have selfish personal desires & wants, as the 61% whom elected the current govt had proven, rolled down their sleeves, got to work & contributed to our Nation. Freedom is a POWER but comes with RESPONSIBILITIES to others within our civilization...
American Democracy is a LIBERAL democracy, where by its great Constitution, guarantees ALL citizens Freedom, but sadly, without the RESPONSIBILITIES. As NO govt can please everyone, it will only result in chaos & sufferings of many. USA is FORTUNATE that it was FOUNDED by immigrants, whom most suffer from deprivations from elsewhere. Those whom suffered, knows such & will only teach & guide the next innocent generations to avoid such. They had MORAL guidance.
With a population of est 300 Million, it was THEY whom had guided USA for centuries, but sadly, with liberal democracy, it is only a matter of time when the decline sets in.....
It must also be said of Dictatorships/ Authoritarian Rule. Such are the opposites of Democracy. There are NO elected legislators in such form of governance & if any, are only for show & ballot boxes of votes had already been stuffed even long before any so called election. Instead of providing needs for the electorate, it is the electorate whom provide the needs for the Dictator...
Libya's ex Leader - Gaddafi, is an example. He may had a heart once, but sadly, absolute power corrupts absolutely. He was once said to had provided FULL medical coverage for an old lady he met on the streets, & his media made public & played up to his kind gesture as a leader. Only fools & the naive would believe it. NO MORTAL is perfect or ALL KNOWING. Public governance policy became a WHIM OF FANCY from him, & is certainly NOT a way to rule & administer Humankind benevolently. He may had helped one, but sadly, MANY MANY fellow Humans in Libya needed help but NONE given. There were NO democratic institutions or a mgmt team to assist, or even investigate the endemic corruptions that existed, & eventually, like many other civilizations such as this, fell....
