Sore Loser Tan Kin Lian takes every opportunity to take potshots at his former employer.

Voucher fraud

'I hope FairPrice gets to the bottom of this and makes changes.'

MR TAN KIM LAM: 'I am astonished that FairPrice, Singapore's largest supermarket chain, was hit by such an incident ('Two held for using bad cheque to buy $500k of vouchers'; yesterday). There are probably two questions being asked by the public. First, why was such a large sum in vouchers allowed to be settled at FairPrice's head office? Second, why did the relative youth of the suspects, aged 19 and 22, who were transacting such a big sum, not trigger alarm bells? I hope FairPrice gets to the bottom of this and makes the necessary changes to protect a great franchise that Singaporeans have grown up with and which has been a part of our lives.'

He was NTUC Income chief, not Fairprice.

It's not a potshot. It's a valid concern when such a fraud has happened. Although run as separate entities, both Income and FairPrice are NTUC co-operatives. Employees on both sides are eligible for their quota of cross-shareholdings to attend each other's AGM and share in each other's dividends. Many of them took it up and there's no requirement to sell back the shares after resignation or retirement.

imo, after he left NTUC, he seems to be more vivid on what NTUC needs to be done or improved. but when he was there, none of this was happening. jus like some pap civil servants. when they were put on the pap's job, they were just dormant and getting obscene pays. but when they left their post, they were full of suggestions, criticisms and all sorts of vibes.

seems that it would be better not to employ them than to pay them for skivving on their jobs.

It's natural, don't you think so? He was with NTUC for three decades and must have accumulated lots of shares therein. Another thing, nothing like that happened when he was one of those at the helm there. When things go on smoothly, you brand it as skivving? Things didn't and don't and won't just go on smoothly without helmsmanship. That's what CEO and senior management are for. When pointing out where things go wrong, you brand it as potshooting? If you have the shares and stakes, aren't you entitled to ask the questions when things go wrong?

Ramseth may have a point about TKL experience and stakes still with NTUC. However, TKL was totally and naively politically unsavy. It's not for him to say it. It only adds to the impression of an abandoned but already well rewarded poodle turning on former masters, as reflected in his PE losing deposit.

Still sour grapes...sour grapes!!

I don't think there is anything wrong with TKL trying to do good deeds - be the voice of the people like acting on the mini-bond debacle or even sounding out misgivings about lost vouchers and what's not. But he is not electable and he should not be led to stand for any national election.

please lah, ntuc is a cooperative, not a listed company, where got shares to be given away. but i do find tkl very knowledgeable, better than ram who pretend to be a know all...haha...:o

And this is the breakfast, or rather brunch that you belanjah me. A good laugh at you making a fool of your yourself for nothing at all over nothing you know. All co-operatives issue shares. Members and employees are entitled to buy certain quota each. It's an option, payable, not free entitlement. As co-operatives, these shares are not exchange traded on SGX. Redemption can only be by buyback from the co-operatives. No shares, then how come got shareholders AGMs? Go to Bedok Reservoir, don't jump in, oh no please, but just wash your face with cold water and clear your mind.

ohoh...kanna pluck big time...i always think that ntuc is government body and thus operate like a stat board.malu big time but i learn a valuable lesson...don't know say don't know, and don't pretend to know and make a fool of myself, agree, bro? haha...:p:o

No problem. Next bottle whiskey at the FESC Scotch pub on you. :D

TKL is not a bad man but shouldn't stand for PE because he's totally off track from PE agenda. Who's the idiot who psychoed him to stand for PE?
