One can only connect with heartlanders if one is able to sit and mingle in the kpts and hawker centres and feel completely at ease. I can think of 2 PAP chaps who qualify for this - Ong Ah Heng and Ang Mong Seng. The rest only wayang.

Back in 2000, I used to work for a company that had some links to A&W. Think they had a Mat CEO before that and they were losing money by the truckload. They then appointed a Chinese guy to take over and they started losing less money but it still didn't stop them from closing down. The entire company folded at after I left my company. Maybe they reopen some branches since, I dun know but as far as I know(someone pls let me know if they did), A&W does not exist in SG anymore
At the time some idiot thought it was a good idea to sell shitty Nasi Lemak at A&W!!!! Then they started turning off the air conditioning at some branches to save cost. I'd be surprise if it didn't close down.
