Re: dRe: healthcare in Singapore

In the US, it's already called healthcare industry.

u.s. healthcare is the best if you're wealthy but the worst if you're poor. never let sg healthcare follow the way of the u.s. sg has one of the best and most balanced healthcare in the world.

This is a peculiarly Chinese disease. Only in countries or cities with huge Chinese communities can you find this phenomenon. Clinics jammed packed everyday with queues by the hour and at the end of the day, almost everybody is alright except a few genuine cases needing medical attention.

in the u.s., emergency wards are filled with illegal mexicans. since almost all don't have health insurance coverage and cannot get access to regular medical treatment, they get free treatment at a&e. a&e cannot turn away anyone with a medical issue by law. for some illegals, they can occupy a&e for days, sometimes weeks, as a&e is open 24 by 7 by 365. illegal and poor chinese in chinatowns have free clinics provided for by private donors, tongs and the chinese chamber of commerce. doctors and nurses speak mandarin and cantonese.

Yes. The question is, don't you want to pay, you can't afford to pay? If yes, this mentality will make your poor all your life and a burden on society.

Chinese healthcare in US (and other western) Chinatowns are mostly organized as community self-help NGOs. The illegal Mexicans are leeches on the US system. I agree with the Singapore system. Nobody owes you living or owes your a life. Prove that you can pay first or eligible for subsidy first before admission and treatment. Otherwise, you suffer in sickness or you die should be your own business. Bear in mind, the doctors and hospitals don't work for free even if the illegal sick or injured Mexicans don't pay. It'll be budgeted in to next cost increase that legal US citizens, residents and taxpayers pay.

That's why I say PRC healthcare system is best. It takes everything out of the equation. Everybody rich or poor is entitled to the same state healthcare. And it's not shoddy hospital or clinic. It even has western and TCM departments. The first attending doctors decide whether western treatment is more suitable in your case or TCM treatment is more suitable, and you'd be treated accordingly. Illegal immigrants? Send them to their embassy or throw them into the sea.

Spore has it's own elite class of leeches e.g. the man with the 8 dollar heart, an SIA plane that was used as an air ambulance,...., I'm sure there are more abuses that never get reported.

Don't forget that the gov't has made things worst by requiring an MC if are absent due to being ill.

sorry to side track, a bro posted a GAMM story abt increasing number of nursing students but how many can take the initial hardship after graduting? One of my neighbour daugther went thru NYP nursing course, last less than 6mths as nurse and now a customer service provider.

With the shortage of nurses worldwide many nurses are leaving Spore for greener pastures in the 1st world. I've met one of those who left Spore for Canada. Unfortunately for her she picked the wrong part of Canada because she couldn't take the cold. It is hard for older people to adjust, she was in her 40's. She really liked the life there & really regretted coming back to Spore.
