In S'pore, the slab blocks are typical public housing characterised by a long, rectangular shape with a central corridor running along its length. These blocks typically house multiple units on each floor, arranged side-by-side along the corridor. Slab blocks are low class housing known for their simple, functional design. I would dread coming home to such a flat after work daily.Living in HDB especially in a slab block really needs getting use to. I visited few friends who live there and cannot imagine myself staying in one.

I would hardly call working hard for promotions, investing my savings wisely to generate passive income through blue chips, foreign currency, Reits, structured notes, unit trusts and properties "selling my soul". The older condos on the outskirts of Orchard Road tend to be larger with higher ceilings and space we do not see these days with the newer and smaller units. However, there is this unmistakeable musty smell of old condos which I also detect at some of the older landed homes of my uncle and aunts who purchased their houses in the 1960s and 70s.Some condo corridors designs are the same.
