Fights is still about the speed and how hard one can punch and also how well a fighter can take a hard punch.A person could be the best martial artist in the world but if he cant take a punch also no use. For an example, a women with all the black belts would probably be knock out in a bar brawl with a bum . Just a single hard punch to the face would be sufficient. I also think that the structure of ones skull plays a big part.

mma cage fights have rules too. it's not anything goes. for example, no hair pulling, no kicking of groin, no biting. and no vertical elbow to the head.
Muay thai is one of the best technique but fail in the wrestling and hold/lock maneuvers. The only way a thai would win is to hit hard and stay on their feet. But if the muay thai exponent is knock down to the floor or is caught in a hold/lock than it comes down to pure strength.

punch to face will not guarantee a knock out. punch to side of face below ear will give you a knock out. or hook to chin. punch to temple may cause prolonged coma or kill.

The best unarmed combat fighters in the world are Chinese. Where else can you find 60kg lightweights not bothered about someone 80 or 100kg and simply bash him up? Westerners have this notion of matching weightage and fight someone your own size. Real Chinese fighters don't care if you're tall like a giraffe or weigh as heavy as an elephant. Bash you flat on the ground and talk later, can measure your height and weight later.
