Re: MMA Will Definitely LOSE !

Shaolin guys know the acu-points of the body so I vote for them in the real fight! The temple, solar plexus n others...can give a KO or simply death if being hit!

the problem with shaolin and other chinese martial disciplines is that it is not put to the constant grind of global combat and competition seen in cage fighting today. all one trick pony disciplines that stay strictly to their traditional silos without adaptation and hybridization will not survive matches that require combination skills in stand up, kicking, grappling, and ground and pound within the confines of the cage or octagon and time limits. shaolin can survive in the first few minutes by evasion and posturing, but will eventually succumb to the power of improvisation and adaptation. mma champions know and understand human weak and critical points, and they are masters of submission and knocking out opponents in seconds. the shaolin exponent's fear should be these two: quick submission by arm bar or guillotine choke and knock put punch or kick by the mma exponent. otherwise, he can dance around the cage like a monkey, pose a few tiger dragon stances and totally evade contact with the real world like they always do since their inception.

Re: MMA Will Definitely LOSE !

Tat might be true, bro! It's an ancient Chinese martial art called "Tia Shue"....most kungfu movies are based on factual kungfu styles!

点穴 is not as simple as you see on TV series or movies, just touch and go. It requires accurate aiming and application of pressure, not really possible or feasible in a fight in motion. More practicable for medical purposes as the patients lie there stationery.

Take note guys almost all countries have their own traditional martial arts, including ang moh countries. Just do some research on it and you'll find tons of them. Yet out of all of them chinese arts and asian ones are the most famous. This says something doesn't it? Therefore even ang moh traditional arts which should be worse than the asian ones cannot match up to mma.

no traditional art can match up MMA. proven and tested so many times

Son, no man can fight, however big or tall or martially trained he is, when he's grounded flat on the ground. The first objective of streetfighting is to ground your opponent. Then you can do what you like with him. On the defensive side, it's also the first objective of defense never to be grounded yourself.

Proverbially, a fight ends with the last man standing. Standing or grounded makes all the difference between victory or defeat.

Re: MMA Will Definitely LOSE !

That's the way son. I used to practise Wing Chun and Inch Punch but I guess I'm too old and lac for that now. Many years ago after ROD from police, me and an also ex-police friend was at a playground chatting and drinking. Four guys, ex-lockup detainees under us beaten up by us before came along to taunt us. Things like hey, no more warrant cards, no more guns, what the heck now etc. The sudden lightning strike of an inch punch settled the question for one and all. The other three dragged that knocked-out guy away without further ado. Me and my friend carried on stargazing, chatting and drinking.

Watch Way Of The Dragon. Not the famous ending Bruce Lee v. Chuck Norris fight. That's good but still exhibition sparring nonetheless. Watch the fights at the backdoor of the restaurant. Opponents are settled in matter of seconds. That's as real as streetfights can get in movies.

I'm no expert with Inch Punch, just bare basics, but enough to settle ruffians. Your grandfather, my father, was the expert, at least above half par with Bruce Lee.

wow where did you get to learn this 1 inch punch?

At the end of the day it's not the art but the opponent you are facing. I'm sure anyone that trains hard enough in mma would be a lethal fighting force.

It all started more than 20 years ago when I was young and restless and couldn't resist the charms of his mom... No regrets though, I still love his mom and him.

mma is mixed martial arts, and it includes asian arts. common adaptations are muay thai for kicking, jujitsu or modified jujitsu brazilian style for ground and submission, greco wrestling for grappling, and southpaw for stand up and punching. a former middleweight champion relies on karate for stand up kicking and punching but has to learn jujitsu for ground and submission. there is no one art that will win singlehandedly. and there's no traditional chinese style art that is adopted by any winning mma prize fighter today. the closest is cung le, who just become part of the ufc by virtue of the ufc merging with strikeforce. and cung le is vietnamese who adopts a vietnamese art for kicking and stand up. until a shaolin exponent wins an mma championship and holds it for at least 3 years, i don't believe the shaolin art is cut out for real competition on a global scale.

I didn't learn that in PA. Police only taught some unarmed combat and judo. I learned Wing Chuin and Inch Punch in San Francisco Chinatown, from an uncle always at the plaza at Kearny opposite Chinatown Holiday Inn. All sorts of funs going on there, chess, gambling, martial arts, taiji etc. Eatshitndie should know the place. My dad was a Wing Chun and Inch Punch exponent but regrettably, I didn't catch on when I was young. Fortunately, I got a second chance in SF.

There's only one objective in a fight. He goes down and you win. You go down and you lose.

I'm into Muay Thai a bit too, but no expert. Muay Thai fighting style is defensively logical. The first pose is always raising elbow and knee. That's the best. Areas of body can't grow fleshy may be the best weapon too. That Muay Thai got it right. The Huang Feihong style of stretching out arm and palm is exhibitionist and endangering your own limbs. Impracticable in a real fight and I'd never do that. Plain silly. Just rush on whack the bloody fellow silly.

LKY should employ ponytail donkey to be his bodyguard, LOL

He asked me to cut my ponytail and I said no way. Deal's off. Don't know what the silly senile old man has against ponytail. Anyway, I'm qualified bodyguard. I've even escorted Israeli ambassador before.

bruce lee used southpaw stance with strong side forward, right-handed. his rationale was that in a free for all street fight, one needed to put their best and strongest assets as close to opponent as possible in order to take him down with speed. either clawing his eyes, grabbing his hair, pulling his ears, kicking his groin or whatever it took to have first advantage, there were no rules and attack must be quick. as he said, such a fight must be over in seconds. photo taking stances, postures and styles could take a back seat. mma fighters learn that maxim from bruce, and his southpaw stance and adaptive use of any style (forget nationalist pride) have been adopted by many and lay the foundation for mma.

Yes, in streetfight, speed and decisiveness are of the essence. It's not a tournament about scoring points. The southpaw is good defensive and aggressive preparatory stance compared the to the Huang Feihong open palm.

MMA win of course. Efficiency will always defeat aesthetics.

I doubt these fake Shaolin monks can win in any of those real UFC MMA fights.............look at those 6 feet 6 inches tall black fighters.....who says size does not count.

All those stance you see can be done by the Indian yoga experts and even some Indians in one of those festivals they hold once a year....eating iron, walking through fire, and cars running over them etc.

Just put the monk and see how they receive a full blown punch on their face.....all those chi flies away. Those Chinese san ta (free fight) fighters win the Thai bxoing is because they do NOT allow the Thais to use their elbow..... In the MMA anything goes expect the eyes.

One thing i understand is that countries around the region such as laos, burma, cambodia all have similar martial styels to muay thai and they are named muay laos, muay cambodia muay burma etc. Are they as good as muay thai? I understand that muay thai obviously is the most famous style of them all. Is there a reason why it's more famous than say muay laos? Simply cos more ppl visit thailand?
