Overwhelmed by this video. Could recall the occasion I overheard this young man asking his girlfriend (I could tell they were in courtship) if her mum would appreciate a take away meal. The girl nodded affirmatively with a smile. I observed their ordering. Yes, it was one meal they bought. I did not jump to the conclusion then that he may not have a mum himself to buy a take away meal for but what if he had? If so, then why did it not strike his mind that he should ask himself if his mum was hungry. What had the girlfriend's mother done for him all his life? Who bore the pain of pushing him out into this world. Who laboured to bring him up to adulthood? Who cried tears for his grief at low points in his life?

I never offered to buy a take out for the mothers of the girls I courted. I don't believe that I had performed my filial duties diligently either when I was a young man with a perpetual hard on in my pants. But I do reflect constantly what my mum had done for me since she brought me into this world. No need for details. "Tien Sia De Mama Toe Tse Hao."

My new year resolution. I want to make sure she knows that I love her and I will never abandon her. That my debts to her can never be repaid even if I can live my life all over again.

My 84 years old mom went home to Singapore yesterday after spending 8 days with me and the dog here in Bangkok . . . . after watching this video makes me miss her very much. Thanks Debonerman.

Have a great year with your mom this 2012.

Thanks very much for the video bro. My Mom was staying with my sis and when the doctor gave her at least another 6 months to live, I took her into my home where I prepared my guest room specially for her. My sister's place had 3 rooms on 2nd floor whilst I had 4 rooms, one on the groundfloor with a patio overlooking the garden. I put in an aircon, hired a 2nd maid and my siblings and I tried our best to make her remaining days as comfortable as possible.

My otherwise quiet place became the focal point where family members went in and out during weekdays and weekends it was unusually crowded. It was a good time for family bonding and on 2 occasions, we all went as a family in 4 cars into Malaysia, one for a durian feast and another to a holiday resort in Malacca.

She passed away 24 hours after lapsing into a coma, and just before expiring I said to her, "Mom can your hear me, if you can move your finger." She did slightly moved her little finger. I said, " Mom I love you." She moved her little finger and gave shudder, a sigh and she left.

I am crying as I am typing this as it is brought back painful memories. I am sure she knows how much we all cared for her, as much as she cared for us.

There is no need to feel any sorrow over nature's doing on humanity.

If people know how to live well in a selfless manner rather than me and myself mentality. He can detour nature and live among the gods.

The above video got the me mentality and draw unnecessary attachment to others in the family and create sorrow for the rest of the family. That is so inconsiderate.

Take heart Windsor. I had a similar experience at the bedside when my wife left me . . . . . .

Thank you bro...and this is something I guess you shared with SBF members before which I missed reading about. I do get those twinges of remorse and guilt at times, but I am glad I had the chance to repay my Mom. Then, I think about my growing years and the good times and I feel much better. Nothing beats a mother's love.

This video reminds me of the late Ms Kwa Geok Choo, the founding mother of the modern Singapore. Like every caring mother she takes care of her family and the nation well, without her advice to sign the Agreement for the guarantee of the water agreements between Johor and Singapore with Malaysia, Singapore will be shortage of water. It is also notable that before the merger with Malaysia, then Malaya, she had told her husband Lee Kuan Yew that she did not feel positive about the merger. Her gut feelings were later proven through when the merger fell through shortly after it was passed. Without her being the woman behind the most successful man in Asia, Singapore can never turn form a 3rd world country to the 1st world in a short 30 yrs time. She also brought up the most brilliant and elite children of singapore whom become Prime Minister, CEOs and Head of Neuroscience Institute.
