The typical Merdeka Eve night started with an urge to watch the fireworks celebration in KLCC ended up in a racist attack by a group of teenagers. So, me and a friend of mine thought of a good solution to avoid the traffic jam in that area by walking from the office in Jalan Imbi through Pavillion, to Jalan Kia Peng through Convention Center to KLCC.
Sounds like an ideal plan as the path is a frequent walkway and is even advertised in Pavillion as 'Bridge to KLCC'. (Just to note that we didnt go into any dark alley)

At 10.15pm, we started walking towards Pavillion, stopped to get a drink at Starbucks and proceeded ahead. As we walk, we came across people from various races and foreign tourists along the way.

On Jalan Kia Peng, we walked past Novotel Hotel, Hakka Restaurant, Menara HLA and was reaching the junction of Jalan Pinang when a group of about 10 teenage Malay youngsters walking from the opposite direction. They looked like typical youths, giggling and talking to each other.

As we walked past them, suddenly one of them turned around and started to make a flying kick to my friend. Noticing the 'fun' he is having, his other friends started to do the same to me. It was so sudden and all I was thinking at the moment was, "What the hell did we do to them?"

Both of us ended up kneeling on the ground for a moment before more kicks and punches came flying in. Even though both of us had our tripod strapped across our shoulder, we were too shocked to react to it. Eventually one punch landed right on my right forehead and I started to bleed profusely. Seeing that they eventually stopped and walked away.WALKED AWAY, damn it. They were not even afraid to run but just WALKED AWAY like winning a game or something. The last thing I remember hearing from one of them was "Baliklah ke negara asal"
Imagine hearing this statement on Merdeka Eve.

I knew I was bleeding but I didnt know how bad. I could feel the right side of my head swollen and wet but I did not try to look at myself through a mirror. My friend also suffered bruises on the body and face. By that time there were more people walking around us but they did not stop to see what was wrong. I don't blame them, it was a poorly lit area just in front of Menara Pinang. We recovered and continued walking towards the Convention Center. The guards were symphatetic to let us in to use the washroom to clean up. It was then I saw my bloody face.

I did not take a picture of myself then as it is not my intention to send a horror message. This is not a message of sympathy. It's a account of a random person walking on a street.

Eventually after cleaning up, we walked back to the Police Booth in Pavillion to relate the incident. The response from the officer: "This cannot happen, we have all our men on the streets" (Well, not on the street we got beaten up ...)

Apparently informing the police booth stationed in a public area is NOT MAKING A POLICE REPORT. WTF? Apparently we have to go to a Hospital, get some treatment and make a complain/report at the police counter there. I would be dead by then, ain't I?

Is this how the police maintained that they have improved street crimes? By not noting down petty crimes like gang bang which did not result into hospitalization? Would we be taken seriously if only we landed in the hospital?

What we did was, we went back to the office, rested til this morning, went to a nearby clinic to get some bandages and medic. What else to do? I can't identify my assailants, and my wounds are not death-threatening.

If I had not wanted to celebrate Independence Day, would I walk or drive to the venue?
If I was not thirsty would I stop for 5 mins to get my drink and missed them completely?
If I had held my tripod as a defensive weapon earlier, would I save myself or get more beating instead?
If I'm not Chinese, would I get the same 'treatment'?

All I want to say in the end is ...
Forward this to your friends (so that they will be careful on the streets)
Forward this to your 'friendly police' (so that they know the procedure is wrong)
Forward this to any politician/newspaper (so that he/she can be the champion for highlighting this to the government)

UPDATE:
It was not my intention as attention seeking whore. I'm merely highlighting that it could happen to anyone at anywhere when you least expected.
It is wrong to say that we are all patriotic and everyone is following the 1Malaysia concept of togetherness when the roots (our teens) are out portraying the opposite.
This is not political. People messaging to say if we change government or vote for the other party this will not happen.I don't believe so.
This 'low crime rate' statistic is ridiculous when all these 'reports' at Police Booths are unrecorded. What is the function of all these booths being setup all around housing area, public area, etc if these reports must be done at the main police station?

Went to Dang Wangi for an official report of the incident. 15mins to get the report written. The was assigned to an Inspector In-Charge who is still at the old office at Stadium Merdeka. (DangWangi station just moved and the officers are between places) Waited for an hour and got more questions asked. Had pictures of our injuries taken, and was informed that they had some suspects caught for a different beating. I dont think we can identify them as it was dark.

If I were the victim, I'll make sure 3 or 4 of those bastards will end up with some broken limbs or even necks! Sure, I may get hit in the process because of their numbers, but if none of them are armed, I'm confident of getting away in one piece! The danger of getting involved in such fights is that I might accidentally kill one of them because during my yrs of martial arts training, we tend to hold back during sparring. In actual fights where we have to go all the way out and where we are desperate, a punch on the opponent's face could be fatal. If you kill someone in a fight in Matland, and esp. if you're Chinese, you'll be in deep shit man!

These shit stirrer mudlanders just pick the right chinese to beat up...they are lucky not to meet my friend..my friend aka clint eastwood will waste no time in whipping out his pistol and blow their shit brains to pieces one by one.blow away the smoke from the barrel and calmly say good... few less brainless terrorists in this world...after he walk away i would pick up their brains, boiled it and feed it to the hungry dogs in the street.

Isn't it worse in Singapore? You have to make a magistrate complaint before the police will act on such a situation.

Idiot, should have driven because everyone know it is dangerous to walk on Malaysia's streets.

The numbers involved constitute rioting, not simple causing hurt. If in Singapore, police will surely act.

Anyway, Chinese in Malaysia (or Indonesia for that matter) encountering such unfortunate incident should run instead of retaliate as suggested in a few earlier posts. You could get instant death penalty or permanently paralysing injury on the spot, with or without martial arts, with or without weapons.

If you're injured, go straight to a public hospital. They'll be a police post there. The doctors will report for you when he sees that injury is caused by violence. If the police are interested, they'll come and look for you.

You are right in that rioting doesn't require a magistrates complaint for the police to take action. Regardless, I can assure you that there are many more rioting cases in Singapore than in Malaysia. I am sure you have been privy to such cases in SG.

I am very familar with that area where these two guys got beaten..tat lane jalan kia peng is pretty quiet during the night...it is just behind the twin towers...i use to jog there in the evening when the old racecourse was there alot of old bungalow houses, some have turn into restaurant..the nearest hotel is prince hotel which is in stonor road..
lets say if my clint eastwood whip out his magnum and fire a shot at one of these scumbags...dun tell me the rest of them will not pee in their pants on seeing their mat brains pop out...he got 5 more round...one more scumbag charge...bang...drop dead..for more round 8 scumbags to go...one more shot...another scumbag drop dead...by tat time i tinks the rest of scumbags will run away faster than usain bolt...simple at this point life is more important to them knowing tat magnum rules...these 10 shitheads just beat up these 2 guys because tat area is quiet and not really a happening place in KL during the night

if a group of 10 chinese did this to 2 dumb m&ds in singapore. Even the chinese here would scold those chinese ppl and then all the malays would probably riot on the streets beating up any random chinese cos if 1 chinese does something bad to a m&d all chinese are reponsible and thus it's chinese racism and all chinese have to pay the m&ds and the story of how singapore belongs to m&ds despite chinese being born in singapore too will be repeated ad nauseum.

Yet if some m&ds did it to a chinese it's okay.

The last thing I remember hearing from one of them was "Baliklah ke negara asal"

"Go back lah xxxx country xxx..."

can some one translate please? I dont speak pig.

Seems to translate to "Go back to your own country" according to google.

Yes..correct..these scumbag is telling them go back to your tribe(country of origin)where you belong...
the whole problem of chinese being bully is started none other than their mad senile old man madhatir,he would always during umno meeting remind the mudlanders and always stirring up sensitive race issues tat msia belongs to them, the rest just tumpang only...the truth is actually msia belongs to the orang asli sakai tribe...this senile old man himself is from pakistani origin..and dun forget most of their mudlanders leaders and cronies have receive kickbags from the rich chinese and indians...the late tunku rahman is a true hero of malaysia..he love the chinese and during his reign many chinese, malays and indians live in harmony....i can forsee the chinese in msia will not live happily in the future when these two clowns hishammuddin(he raise the kris during umno meeting causing a uproar, very bad sign) and khairy jamaludin take over.

In another 50 years all the mudland chinese would have been assimilated, or migrated out of the country. There won't be anymore chinese in Malaysia anymore. Its the same for the Jews that used to stay in Malaysia. How do I know this? I met a Jew that was born in Malaysia in Australia. He told me there used be a community of Jews in Malaysia. They left after independence.
All this remarks about leaving the country, going back to china etc, has its roots that the "Malay" are not a race itself. There has never been a "Malay" race. The earliest inhabitants are the chinese from Yunan, and the Indians in Kedah. You mix Chinese and Indian, and what do you get? Go a bit further to 50 000 years ago, and everyone outside of the African continent are descended from a group of less then 200 people that came out of Africa. So we are all Africans to begin with. There is only one race after all, the human race.

No wonder that rd sounds so familar, it is just after Pavilion, why would they want to wander into that small lane that leads a bigger road??...I agree with you very quiet..by the way, where is the location of the old racecourse?

So we are all Africans to begin with. There is only one race after all, the human race.

So what are the Chinese to begin with ? We must start from somewhere !

If you believe in the Bible or the Qur'an, we all started from a garden called Eden in Mesoptamia, later known as Babylon, now known as Iraq.

malays are chinese mixed with indians?
