In a dilemma over work commute because wife disallow me from picking up motorbike..

So my wife saw the top comment from and now she is suddenly very against me getting a class 2b and getting a bike.

I have a class 3 and I do enjoy driving but cars are too ex in SG so I only get to enjoy driving overseas these days. But I already had years of experience driving on SG road already. I also a class 4 driver during my NS so I have the road sense, practice defense driving and take safety very seriously myself.

Recently I thought of picking up class 2b and a bike because it would save a lot of time commuting to work at new job locations and it would also allow me to see my wife more frequently because we live apart as our BTO will only be ready in 2030.

For example, for one possible job location from my house to workplace is a 15mins cycle, but from my wife's house is 1hr by public transport. And the job will have long hours and shift work.

Another possible job location I might work is industrial area which is also inaccessible by public transport, need to take 3 different MRT lines, 1hr+ and still walk 15 - 20 minutes from MRT to workplace where as bike is ~30mins.

Things will only get worst when we get our future home in 2030.

Haiz so now Idk.. I was already very determined to learn and get bike as now i'm in a job transition phase and quite free to go all-in and try to quickly pick up the class 2b and a bike within 2-3 months before I start my new job after we come back from vacation in May.

But my wife saw all the negative comments and dangers of owning a bike in SG and suddenly got scared.

I was even prepared to never lane split (especially during peak hours with all the reckless JB riders) and only stick to left-most lane and just ride max 60-70km/h and occupy a full lane even during traffic jam while keeping a full car's length in front of me if that would keep her mind at ease.

Never go into a vehicle's blindspot at filter lanes, basically just assume I am invisible to everyone on the road. But yeah, people always say even the most safest person u can also get rear-ended at a traffic stop and it is not how but just a matter of when you will get into an accident.

So she now worry and disallows me from learning bike and this put a damper to my planned logistics that she would rather we meet less often than the chance of me getting into accident and never see her again.

She also say her cousin got into accident before and her friend who is selling his bike also don't recommend riding.

To me personally having to Take 1hr+ public transport and in future 1.5 - 2hrs+ to work, 6 days a week is just not sustainable la.. Imagine saturday work 8.30am - 12.30am. But I would have to go out home at 6.30am and only reach home at 2.30pm which is wth. nearly 3 - 4 hours on public transport everyday.

Riding a motorcycle in Singapore is dangerous because there are way too many incompetent and unlicensed drivers on our roads. Add to the mix foreign drivers who may have purchased their licence or passed extremely easy tests back home.

Which top 10 simps he falls into?
Envious people have deep-seated insecurity, low self-worth and intense unhappiness. These lead to toxic behaviour like putting others down, and obsessing over others' success. Their envy poisons relationships, causes mental disorders like anxiety and depression which drive them to minimise others' achievements in order to feel better. This may take place in person, but is more often exhibited in forums where they lurk anonymously.
