TKPS Deaths - MOE COI?

I am disappointed when people think like you. COI is abt the future. How can future Singaporean parents make wise decisions if the facts of what happened are not learnt? How and what can MOE learn from this sad episode?

My point is all the COI here, is not independent & what happened in Sabah is act of nature or some will say act of god....mountain gods. It is not what MOE can learn about this, this is about the parents making the right choices...

It has been established that the earthquake was caused by those tourist twits who stripped naked at the summit. The PAP is therefore absolved from all blame henceforth.

Why does it take MOE so long to decide to have an Inquiry? Does MOE really think that an Inquiry is not necessary? The COI must be chaired by an Independent Chairman, preferably a Judge.

Why so long?

The reasons are, as I believe:

1. They were waiting for the last two's status to be confirmed. So to confirm the death toll.

2. The death toll is high: 2 teachers, 7 students.

3. The victims include teacher, not just student.

4. Sabah is claiming to raise the age limit on the mountain. Some of the M'sia official even now claiming they were shocked to know that 12 were allowed to climb the mountain.

I think MOE is very quick with point 4.

Before Sabah claimed to raise the age limit, MOE and all the sg media plus all the IB here were trying to claim that 12 were fit to climb the mountain and that was minimum requirement set by Kinabalu Park.

But now when Sabah is making a U-turn on its age limit on the mountain, MOE now shuts up and come up with this COI. Very sudden move...

Thanks for the info. I didn't realise that once you reach the age of 13, huge rocks can no longer kill you.

Attention all sinkies!!! A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FROM SAMMYBOY.COM.

Please avoid doing this hike... VERY, VERY DANGEROUS.

NZ is also very irresponsible.. .they allow 5 year olds to hike this trail.

NZ is a known earthquake risk zone. There is also a huge risk of volcanic eruptions, unexpected thermal steam discharge, sudden weather changes, high winds and last but not least, the possibility that a Maori high on Meth might attack you along the way and steal all your stuff and rape your women.

People here don't seems to understand that it's not the climb that killed those kids ;)

Who pay COI? ? ;)

The cost of COI compared to the benefits gained is worth it. It is small. The manpower cost is the salaries of the COI members and is paid by the respective ministries. Incidental cost is minimal and will probably be footed by MOE, the Convening Authority

In case you didn't realise it, that's your money being used.

So who those ministers work for? ;)

Let's leave it to the COI to determine what lessons MOE and the schools can learn from this sad saga and what actions to be taken

Moral of the story nobody can control the act of nature, period.

MOE has a lot of lessons to learn from this accident

So who those ministers work for? ;)

If Peter Lim, Commissioner SCDF, is found guilty of misconduct, Minister of Home Affairs is affected as he was the one who chose PL to be Commissioner

If a Minister HSK is found to be incompetent, PM Lee is affected as he chose HSK to be minister.

This is Leadership Responsibility

I didn't know money can prevent nature disaster from happening ;)

The money spent on the COI cant prevent an earthquake but it can enable the COI to draw out the mistakes made by MOE and the schools and prevent them from making the same mistakes in future.

If no COI, many mistakes would be swept under the carpet and no one is wiser.

Let us see whether the pap will do the right thing and convene a COI

In other goverments, COIs are appointed for their expertise and integrity. But in Singapore, I don't know

In other countries, the Minister of Education would have stepped down in disgrace, with a public apology during a press conference, no prompting needed.

In Singapore... well, being thick skinned and greedy at the same time works wonders. ;)
