Are you, like the pap, afraid that a COI will reveal the truths?

No I am afraid that the COE will convolute the issues and hide the truth.

MOE has no choice but to conduct a COI for the loss of 11 lives. It's not an overreaction. It is necessary to prevent a similar incident

The aim of the COI is not to find fault and penalise anyone.

The aims of the COI must include:

1. Measures to prevent a similar recurrence
2. Find out whether the risk assessment protocol used by SG schools is adequate
3. Lessons learnt
4. Any other matters that are relevant

What can be prevented must be prevented.

Why does it take MOE so long to decide to have an Inquiry? Does MOE really think that an Inquiry is not necessary? The COI must be chaired by an Independent Chairman, preferably a Judge.

Where is leadership in MOE and Singapore?

There is no need for a COI to decide when the facts are there for all to see. The PAP is 100% responsible without a shadow of doubt and the person who should fall on his sword is this guy :

When he took over MOE, he should have had the foresight to realise immediately that an earthquake in Sabah was imminent based upon past geological data and should have cancelled all Sabah trips and replaced with trips up Mount Faber instead.

Psst! COI not COE...that is for buying a vehicle...Certificate Of Entitlement. What's there to convene anything for, they can't bring back the dead?, those alive can decide if they still want those involved to continue the same status quo & in future, cause maybe further 'deaths'...at the moment it will be blame the PxP season....

I am disappointed when people think like you. COI is abt the future. How can future Singaporean parents make wise decisions if the facts of what happened are not learnt? How and what can MOE learn from this sad episode?

COIs are a load of bullshit because the process is controlled by the PAP. Just look at the findings of the COI convened for the Little India riots. I've never seen more crap in all my life.

I agree with you abt the Little India COI. That was a bad COI. Read my post#1 and know what pre-requisite I said abt the COI and its Chairman.

To prevent any cover-up, a COI's findings should be made available to the public.

Contrary to what many said that the 11 deaths were the result of the earthquake and there is nothing to learn from it, I believe there are many cock-ups and mistakes made. I believe there are many lessons to be learnt and much can be done by MOE and the schools to prevent another accident in the management of students, their learning and excursions. Only a COI can surface all these
