9000 peanuts for National Serfs is a joke

This is one sick joke, the regime proposes to give national serfs for the two years of IQ decreasing National Serfship. It is not a lump sum payment and is progressively disbursed (meaning Mindef could play dirty tricks to reduce the payouts by citing fine print clauses).

If a peasant can earn 2k per month, he will be behind by 24k.

The 24k does not take into consideration the work experience and liability of call ups. This is why FTs and PRs do better because they gain working experience and do not report back to camps for wayang activities.

Hence the regime's gesture is too little and comes too late.

Mindef as of today, tells serfs to pay their own insurance and is full of deceit and dirty tricks to deny compensation to dead serfs.

That was why, when the picture of the lunch box given to the YOG VOLUNTEERS came out, I felt deja vu. My NS days was free labour for National Day Parade, Tree Planting days etc..& many VOLUNTEERED weekends etc..all I got was lunch bixes unfit for animal consumption, threathened with Dentetion Barracks for job not well done; whereas some 'tan jiat peng' gets promoted...

This not free labour..it is slavery...

This is one reason why many FTs are supervisors and managers in private sector. Most peasants lose 2 years of working experience that cost more than 9000 peanuts! Evil Mindef and Clown Prince is not sincere, this is probably another sweetner before the next Procedural Election.

1) $9K does not fully recognize the 2 year sacrifice. If MINDEF said, give us $9K and no more NS, how many would opt to pay the $9K? So this is not a payoff but a recognition of a sacrifice.

2) Paying the active NS men but failing to regconize the contributions made by nsmen over the years. It is not fair. Much of what is Singapore today rest on the shoulders of people from the earlier years. Much as we keep talking about founding father what about the founding Singaporeans who stood shoulder to shoulder and built the country.
