Big fight among a group of cyclists on Tues

Unfortunately Joyriders and Anza are the main groups out there. Don't worry too much about being in her good books, not many people give 2 flying f**ks about that. Just be friendly with the riders you encounter and you'll be fine. Nobody needs her damn approval to join the rides, especially in light of how she manages the club's money. In fact, if you've bought the jersey already you don't owe her shit. Just go join the rides, make friends and I'm sure other riders will eventually invite you to join smaller private rides.

No, I've not told her about this forum and I've not purchased jersey from her.

I'll probably continue to ride with ANZA.

Anybody remember the big hoo-ha about that Escape Chapel Party featuring a bunch of indecently dressed (and ugly) girls in nun costume that upset the Catholic community a few weeks back?

Article - http://sg.news.yahoo.com/chijmes-‘chapel-party’-draws-flak-from-catholic-community.html

Apparently it was set to be hosted by none other than Joyce Leong's daughter - Jade. I wonder what her holy mom's friends had to say about that!

Not bad for mixed blood, she's on top ten of my bonking list. If like daughter like mother, it should be easy to hook up cos her mom's such a whore!

Her dotter is another product of Harvest church. Watch Harvest Church founder's wife kah kwee kwee with black men:

You must realise that almost all the joyriders kena brainwashed by her la. No use to tell her, might as well spread the word to the group to try and "un-brain wash" them, haha..

Good for you. ANZA might be uptight for some people but at least they are transparent about what they do and what they demand from members.

I don't bike much, and I'm well aware that Sinkies love to splurge on the most expensive bikes / parts.
So here's my idea:

If I were a serious biker, I think I would just get the base model, sure it's heavier and less stiff, and 99% of other serious bikers would have better bikes... BUT this should be a GOOD thing!
WHY?
Because this means that compared to whoever I can keep up with, I would be the stronger biker, since I am disadvantaged by a less efficient bike.
As for the guys who go faster than me, they will never have the satisfaction of being certain that they are stronger riders than me, since their bikes cost 10x more than mine!

What do you all think?

I have three road bikes. The lightest weighs 6.5kg. The heaviest weighs 9.7 kg. It's an old Cinelli steel framed model.

If I can beat the shit out of someone on my light bike, I can do the same on my heavy bike. It's almost as if the weight doesn't matter and to be honest, on most courses, it doesn't make that much difference.

You'd feel the difference only if you were climbing a 5km mountain with a 7% gradient. Singapore doesn't have any of those so you're fine on a $1500 bike.... basic carbon... entry level alloy wheels. I recommend Mavic open pro as they're very stiff if built correctly.. shimano 105 components.

Beyond that, you can let your legs do the talking.

Your first challenge is not your fellow bikers. That comes later. Your first challenge is to enjoy riding while building strength, speed and overall fitness. The experience is so much better with a half decent bike. Not to expensive and not to cheap. Once you cross this hurdle, you can do whatever you want to prove the point that you are a better rider.

More importantly you need to find a decent bunch to ride with to have an overall increase in experience. And it is not just about riding but the food, drinks and the company that comes after a good ride.

Enjoy.

just get a reasonably good bike to suit your type of riding. there is nothing worst then a bike that breakdown on rides.
for serious biker who spent lots of time riding, get the best you can afford so you don't clutter your home with the "upgrades" and "upgrades" usually will cost you more.

Wah Bro, you must be an old-timer cyclist. Hope someday we can do a ride together.

Bike breakdowns have nothing to do with how good a bike is. Bikes break down because they haven't been properly maintained.

Chains last no more than 4000 to 5000 km depending on the conditions and how often you clean it.

Brake cables, shifter cables fray after a while. I replace mine every six months.

If you ride in the rain often, you'll also need to change the rear derailleur cable whenever you find the indexing is out no matter how you adjust the cable tension... .. this one...

Wheel Hub bearings last 10,000 km or less if they get wet. Take off the wheels and spin them. If the bearings feel gritty, it's time to get new ones.

Bottom bracket needs servicing regularly too.

Road bikes should have NO rattles at all. If you do hear something rattling, you need to track down the cause and get it fixed or whatever is rubbing will wear out prematurely.

I have refrained from mentioning this aspect as half the country is after my arse. And you know the bike model is an obvious signature. Could not help it this time.

Tell you a story - one day having dinner with friends and I emptied my pocket to find a coin when out came a spoke wrench for truing the wheel. You know the circular one like a coin. One of the ladies picked it up and ask what it was. After my explanation, I can see they thought I was mad.

I know this is weird but I enjoy riding in very light drizzle. I can sense the air very fresh and brings back memories of playing in the rain during childhood and swimming under a waterfall.

Besides maintenance, need to invest in decent race tyres that has puncture protection. One would be surprised by the amount glass and flint that is embedded in it. And you can see it stops short of the protective layer which is usually coloured.

We used to ride in the evenings until we lost 5 fellow riders who got killed by reckless PRC and Bangla drivers from 2009 to 2011.

To avoid these foreign reckless drivers, we're forced to start our ride at an unearthly hour of 4am, and we are badly affected by news of the bastard reckless PRC Ferrari driver.

Imagine how many of us would be killed on the spot if that bastard had run into our peloton during our predawn rides.

Fuck those bastards who open the flood gate to these foreign trash!
