Your Fault - Over-reacting to the Train Breakdowns

Bro, dun get excited. I merely mentioned it can also mean bla..bla..bla...

I have posted a new thread asking whether COI should investigate the fat dividends.

Btw are you a shareholder?

I have 10k @ 1.75

not a shareholder but a very recent rider. was visiting sg over a week ago and had to adjust to service disruptions. used circle line to circumvent affected stations and tunnels on the n-e line. there are sufficient transfer stations and lines now where any world traveller can easily skirt around town on various segments of lines and stations. didn't face any issues with crowds, congestion or constipation, just took longer. wtf are sinkies whining about? come to the bay area and try bart, and you will be feeling so lucky you have the mrt at home.

It just amazes me... the PTC and LTA... both are kinda inefficient in my views. They only care about reaping more from the peoples.

the regulatory body is the transport ministry. they don't operate and maintain the mrt. you need to first separate regulators from operators, shareholders from workers, management with fat paychecks from pappies with a deep pocket. there may be one majority shareholder, but it doesn't mean the same shareholder is out there on the tracks maintaining the 3rd rail. moron.

Did Singaporeans overreact to MRT breakdowns?

"I do feel that peoples' reaction was over-the-top especially when there are other means to getting to places in Singapore. It's a geographically small place not like in a huge city where there's no other option. " said Ms Arif.

For more views about the MRT breakdowns, check out RazorTV.

I really wonder whether some people are indeed paid by the MIWs to spew this shit.

Geographically small with other means of transport? Tell that to the hordes of commuters who couldn't book a taxi, couldn't board a bus because all the buses were jam packed, and tell that to all the road users who had to deal with extremely congested traffic when the MRT broke down.

Ms Arif is living in a fantasy world where if the train breaks down, the bus pulls up conveniently in 10 minutes and escorts her safety back home. I don't think it will ever dawn on such a bloody ignorant imbecile that what happened on those days where the SMRT broke down was nothing like that at all.

Thanks for sharing. You do have valid points. The thing is if sinkies never make a big deal out of it; could we guarantee the SMRT goons will be shaken and waken up from their freaking ideas? They were trying to cut costs!

Lucky for SMRT that no irregularities like trapped passengers LS or died on a heart attack during those hours.

Also, it is a definite wake-up to them to provide better customer service.

Like the London Tube, even if they have regular maintenance or breakdowns, I wont mind if prompt updates were being given to the customers immediately. In fact passengers can subscribe to updates via SMSes. But SMRT fails big time with customer service. The drivers were loss and probably thinking that containing the passengers was the best and/or safest!

when i was there over a week ago, sinkies didn't cry or whine about it. they just waited and waited and work around with buses or cabs or alternate routes. the only baboons who are crying foul, gnashing teeth, wailing their hearts out and complain incessantly are here in this forum. only imh patients complain just as loudly as though the world has ended and the city is crumbling like in the disaster movie.

I dun take the mrt here but thanks to all the well travelled bros sharing views and comparing with other countries...
Now I know Singapore is such a fantastic country to live in and we as singaporeans are so lucky.
Saw deserves her huge salary and our competent cabinet as well for running the country so well....so blessed are we

Actually, taking tongue out of cheek for a minute, I do agree with your above post.
Singapore is not a bad place to live in, the mrt is not bad if u compare to Seoul and Shanghai, to quote 2 examples in Asia.
Imho, HK and Taipei are better.
The cabinet consists of a few duds, one in particular I love to mock, but there are also a few competent people.

The only statement which I strongly disagree is this one:
"Saw deserves her huge salary............." :D

wait till you deal with the regulatory bodies here in the bay area. in bed with unions and in cahoots with service providers. california has the most corrupt regulators in the west.

If corruption works, I'd rather live with corruption. BART is one of the most comfy system in the world with cushion seats. Sardine packs and breakdowns are almost unheard of except when there're jumpers. (Yes, Americans do jump tracks at oncoming trains too.) There's no over-reaction in the recent spate of SMRT breakdowns. Those were not breakdowns causing delays and scrambling for alternative modes of transport. Those were breakdowns trapping commuters inside the trains.

Foreign idiots don't know shit about SGP politics. It's not really about us not being able to understand or tolerate SMRT, train breakdowns, racist gaffes, floods..

It's really about whacking the PAP. They have been just too damn cocky, boastful, deaf, self-righteous, cronyist, nepotist, hypocritical for too long. The only way to puncture their thick skin is to prick them. To them, our criticism and egg-throwing is just a pin prick. But a few hundred thousand pin pricks will inflict enough pain to make them sit up n listen. A million will force them to mend their ways.

I have to agree with eatshindie.

Our regulatory bodies are currently doing a fair and honest job, compared to the rampant corruption that takes place in other supposedly first world countries.

People are assigning blame to all the wrong people, as eatshitndie has already mentioned. The PAP, government, LTA, PTC have no blame in this. They are not the ones running the system on a day to day basis. SMRT technicians and engineers are solely responsible. If the buck must go up, it should stop at Prez and CEO Saw Phaik Hwa.

Our PAP Government has done an excellent job responding to public discontent and getting SMRT to put its act together. Our political leaders have been very responsive and proactive in addressing public concerns.

Let us not be a bunch of bobo-shooters ready to lay everything at the feet of the PAP. Recognize where the fault really lies. Let us be fair.

If the public had not reacted the way they did, do you think there will be a COI?

Why so stewpig argue about MRT. Argue morning to night also no end one. Go buy a car or take taxi LOL

RazorTv and that clown Arif are idiots. Arif is an idiot for comparing train delays with 7 hr train breakdowns every day. RazorTV is another media whore for publicising his views even tho it is inane.

The fault partly lies with the interviewer who does not know how to ask the right questions.

To all those KNNBCCB por lumpars bastards who are still rooting that the SMRT and the government had done no wrong at the recent MRT breakdown, let me ask you a question:

Is it right to hold the hundreds of passengers inside unventilated cabins for more than 2 hours before rescue could be provided? What the fuck is our Civil Defence for? I'm sure they do have stand-by personnel for critical situations like this. Why aren't they being deployed when the need arises?

The fucking Singapore government is running the country as "to each his own." It seems that "if you have problems, go and resolve it yourself and don't count on me." Just like the bomb case in Kranji. The factory owner called for the police, but the police told him to engage the private bomb disposal unit by themselves instead. What the fuck is the police for in this case when they can't even provide a trip to assess the situation?:oIo::oIo::oIo:

You sound so naive, like a secondary school kid still wet behind his ears.

In the real world, you don't look at the organizational structure of a company but the effective control to determine who's in charge (and therefore must be responsible for the company). One of the important things to scrutunise to determine effective control is who make up the Board of Directors and who has the controlling voting rights.

if you have fucking balls, why don't you protest in the streets like occupyers and arabs? sinkies are great behind the keyboard, mouthing great balls of fire, but when it comes to action (such as protesting or packing and go), fear starts creeping in. excuses. excuses. there will never be a sinkie spring in sg. all of you are girls and morons with no balls...after completing your ns. tragic.

I do have balls..Why you wanna suck on it punk...
