WP chief Pritam Singh seen taking MRT train​

Workers' Party secretary-general Pritam Singh was seen riding the MRT train recently.

He was spotted by a fellow commuter on Wednesday morning, Apr. 8.

The commuter, Li, a Mothership reader, submitted a photo with the message: "Saw Pritam Singh on the train."

According to Li, Singh boarded the East West Line train at around 9:10am.

He was headed towards City Hall, she recalled.

She added: "I exited the train first. When I turned my head, he wasn’t in the cabin anymore."

Government urged Singapore residents to save energy​

Singh's usage of public transport came a day after Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong urged Singapore residents to deal with the current energy crisis originating in the Middle East by taking public transport and using fans.

Gan delivered his ministerial statement in parliament on Tuesday, Apr. 7.

The DPM, who is also Minister for Trade and Industry, said the effect of the conflict could persist for "some time".

The government is continuing to strengthen international trade partnerships, and will also provide support to households and businesses, Gan added.
