What 6.9 million? It is 8 million!

I do not view the PAP as right wing. They are a pragmatic party. They will go with what works. Some time ago when there was a debate whether PAP will side with China or USA in a conflict, my opinion on that was that the PAP is neither pro-China or pro-USA, they are pro-money. Nothing wrong with that. Just practical. I do not like the PAP for personal reasons which I feel do not concern most other people. Anyway, those issues have more to do with my teenage years and nothing to do with politics.

Cheers!

The PAP is a right-wing party and sinkees have been conditioned to accept right-wing ideology. Lately there has been an awakening because the right-wing bs does not jive with reality.

They are self serving party & only looking after a limited segment of Sporeans & ignoring the interests of the majority of Singaporeans.
That's why they have lost the support of many Sporeans.

If you don't believe just follow the money.

the middle class are always the last to act. they think they are rich but they are not. when the bottom gets wiped they will become the new bottom. and then with no one else to back them up the fun begins

How is the flooding of sinkapore with millions of foreigners working? Not for sinkees. This is right-wing belief ...that you need to bring down the wages of workers so that the business owner can reap the rewards.

Sinkapore is a hooker then, available to the highest bidder. That's not the kind of foreign policy a peesai should adopt. We get dumped easily because no one gives a damn after having used us and paid for it.

Cheers!
The market is open. What's to stop another country from charging less that what Singapore can offer to the world? If someone who charges less and gives the same performance, we will pay him or her more before s/he goes to our competition. That's they way capitalism work. If Hyundai makes a car as good as Honda for a lesser price, which would you buy?

Cheers!

Unfettered capitalism is trouble. We are still in economic doldrums because of unfettered capitalism in the financial industry.
Audi and VW cost more than Honda ...why do people still buy those cars? Price is not the sole consideration. If you compete on price, your hold is only as secure until the next cheap competitor enters the market.
Sinkapore needs a niche, not compete aimlessly on price.

Fren, not only them, every political party is like that. Just that in Peesai, the others have not been given that chance yet. And the adroit politician will know how to hand pick the ones best for him or her, else she or him wouldn't be a politician.

Cheers!

It's their choice who they want to work for, its an open market. For both sides.

Cheers!

Business can take the easy road out by hiring cheap foreign labor. Throw out the foreigners and it will be a better ball game.

That's life. You win some, lose some, screw up some. People only look after themselves. And capable politicians make other think they're looking after them. And some people chose to believe, who's fault is that?

Cheers!

From my observation, they are trying very hard. Friendly with the other staff, polite and obliging to customers, punctual for work, do not report sick. I am unable to find any fault in them so far. Our customers are not concerned about the nationality of their suppliers. They are only concerned with the standard of the service received.
Why wouldn't they? They make more dough here than in China and they are just here to make the dough.

Before you go around running down these foreigners working in Singapore, spare a thought for your Singapore brothers and sisters working in PRC and how they might be treated there if Chinese nationals are harassed here in Singapore.
The Chinese don't let in any tom, dick or sarah to work there. And there are not that many sinkees there compared to the Ah Tiongs here. If I have to choose, I rather help the millions of sinkees here than the thousand of sinkees working in China. The sinkees in China won't be tossed out at whim as their skills are needed whereas the Ah Tiongs are here because they are cheap.

Cheers!
Your government is your problem, or your blessing depends on how you wish to look at it. From what I know, they were selected by popular vote in fair elections. I only come here to work.

Cheers!

Elections in sinkapore are never fair. It is just that the malfeasance are well covered up.

The "middle class" after busy working at their jobs, tending to their family's needs, and looking after their own health. They don't normally bother about politics because they are far removed from being able to affect it apart from casting their vote. And the decision they make on that day is theirs, fortunately.

Cheers!

the middle class are always the last to act. they think they are rich but they are not. when the bottom gets wiped they will become the new bottom. and then with no one else to back them up the fun begins

It is not the government that wants these people flooding Singapore, it is the owners of workshops, restaurants, logistics, construction and manufacturing companies that need them. The various branches of the government only facilitate and legitimise their availability. The government will get voted out if they do not make available the necessary labour for these industries to function. Just talk to the owners of any fabrication company in the industrial estates and ask them how they solve their labour woes. For the government, just their tough luck that they get the blame for these ill-feelings.

Unfortunately, Singapore is in that situation where if you got nothing to sell, you sell your body (like prostitutes).

Cheers!

Audi, VW and most other continental makes are perceived as higher quality than Honda because of the prestige associated with European makes. I wouldn't pay more for them because I do need that extra "high end feeling" but I am not representative of the market out there. As a salesman, why drop your price when the market willlingly pays more? Some call it clever marketing, other call it surplus value, I call it profit. Yes, you are right, price is not the only consideration (wish I could convince my customers on that though).

And I agree that there are faults in capitalism. But for now, it is the system the world goes by. Damn, even the communists are getting good at it!

Cheers!

My stand is clear. Say no to six point nine or eight or........

Look after sinkees first before foreign trash. Sinkees will still survive.

Well, whether they are cheap or not, businesses are regulated by market forces. Take welders for example, if you throw them back to their country, key industries like shipbuilding (well, sorry that is gone already) or rather oil rig construction will be dead and move to countries like Vietnam, probably Philippines, or China. Keppel and Semcorp will close shop, or move out. How is that good for Singapore? What's Peesai going to sell to the world then? Char Kwey Teow? Chilli crab? Damn, nowadays even the cooks are foreigners!

Fren, I am not siding foreigners over Singaporeans. Just looking at what needs to be done, has to be done. I won't ever look at an Ah Neh or Ah Tiong as someone "lower" than me, he or she is just another human being trying hard to make a better life for himself or herself and has no intention of causing harm to me, why should I hate that person? I might make ethnic jokes though for humour.

And those companies have failed to raise their game because there was no reason to as the government continue to flood the country with foreigners. This game will end badly.
The people who are impacted by the flood of foreigners will vote out the government. Business owners do not have enough votes to toss the government out.

Of course they're here to make the dough! What other reasons would they be here for? Enjoy the scenery? Hospitality? Food? Shopping? In exchange for money, they work, that's the way things are.

I know two persons from Singapore that have been sent to China to work, one to manage a pharmaceutical plant and another to oversee a chemical plant operations. I am sure there are many others who've gone there to work too.

No one is stopping you from helping your fellow Singaporeans here. They just have to help themselves first.

Cheers!

I think there is an elections committee or some organization that sees that they are not rigged. And so far, no one has pointed a finger at the PAP that they've cheated in elections. They've just been more clever than their enemies at garnering more votes. That's just part of politics. i wouldn't vote for them, but it is not my job to convince others.

Cheers!

Elections in sinkapore are never fair. It is just that the malfeasance are well covered up.

I agree with you that the ending doesn't look good if it comes. And that the government may not have a good game plan. Sorry to say this, but if that end comes, some among them are quite comfortable to throw in the towel, call it quits, and retire to some country friendly to Singapore. And despite the top education results the students have achieved, it may not bring any good fortune to the island as a country. But human resilience is tough and I am quite certain that something will happen that may change things. The people have got to break from relying on the government to provide all the solutions and do something for themselves.

Cheers!
