Since when is Pritam Bayi a Doctor ? Goodness sake, he has still to pass his postgraduate law degree.

Highly reinforces my belief all along that under the self-righteous Old Man, there is a holy grail to scour Ministers' families, relatives, friends, associates etc to find like-minded and friendly forces elites to fill their ranks in the elite Mandarinate. Never mind if it smacks of nepotism and cronyism. It's all justified in the name of governing S'pore and denying the hegemony of political power to other contenders outside the close family circle. So whatever system, rules, laws there are, they can be bent to suit the ends. This is what they call meritocracy. But with Lee's characteristics -You are chosen not because you are good, but because you are also in the circle.

They think that it is isolated as many in the senior political positions are demanding of their sons for obvious political capital.

fully agree wif u bro...excellent analysis...

if no proper detailed explanations forthcoming fm TT/PT...then i suggest a public go direct to yr MPs n keeping harping on this issue...particularly the males n the mumsy crowd....

They should focus on 2 things: the 12-year deferment and the failure of PT to finish his medical training. Basically, SAF gave him a super-long disruption to become a doctor and he failed. People should realize the explanation that he was a super-talented scientist serving in DSO is irrelevant.

The most credible complainers should be MOs in the late 80s and early to mid 90s who were forced to go back to the SAF after their housemanship and are probably quite too lan by the PT case. It cost them precious time when they could have been training to be specialists. I think it would have been more difficult for the SAF to turn down requests for deferment to go for specialist training had people known about PT's case. For example, a specialist trainee in orthopaedics would certainly have had a strong case.

Bro Porfirio, the question I am going to ask may be below your class to answer, but few will have the information.

I am told that in the 1980s MOH allow those serving the medicine bond in public hospitals etc to go free without needing to pay back bond money because "too many doctors in hospitals". And in actual fact some very big shot son was released in that same years?

I humblely seek your advise and clarify this rumour.

Let me be the usual busybody and answer that. All Malaysians who graduated in the mid 1980s who paid the same fees as Singaporeans and therefore required to serve a 2 year bond with any Singapore employer were released from their bond due to the slump in the economy. It did help Singapore grads who no longer had to complete with Malaysians for limited jobs. Medical Doctors however were not released from their 5 year bond. What however is interesting is that many returned to Malaysia after completion of their bond.

According to the PSC website, the President Scholar is awarded for study leading to a first degree. But Patrick Tan has admitted that he did more than that. First with a 4 year degree from harvard, than over to Stanford for another post graduate degree. Is the PSC saying they sponsor him all this time for multiple degrees, but other peasants get only 1 degree allowance?

Course of Study

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A wide range of courses of study are available under the President’s Scholarship. President's Scholars may study any course leading to a first degree tenable at local or overseas universities.

Patrick Tan was a President's Scholar but he was never on any PSC scholarships. His Harvard degree was sponsored by the Loke Cheng Kim foundation. His Stanford MD-PhD degrees were probably supported through a mix of fellowship and Daddy's money. Being a President's Scholar is an honour but it doesn't come with any monetary benefits. Most President's Scholars are also OMS holders though, which allows them to go overseas for their studies. PT was not an OMS scholar, according to his CV.

To be exact, I remembered it was after 1985. They were not automatically released but need to apply for early release. However, most of them were successful in their applications.

hahaha...yup understand yr pov bro...

i had no doubts that there were different grades of "white horses"...mine probably 5 shades less puteh n pretty grey than others going by the the chop on my med doc...LOL!!...
Bro, just like race horses, there were (are?) several grades of White Horses.

It was no fun being saddled with White Horses especially the Grade 1 (and possibly 2) types. Grade 3 types (generally sons of unimportant MPs and below) were okay and was not so much of a deal. One had to be really "suay" to be saddled with the Grade 1 WHs.

The surface may look calm but there was always this pressure and furious paddling behind the scenes in valiant attempts to portray that everything was cool and that no one should make a fuss about the heavenly presence of a Grade 1 White Horse in their midst.

no big deal really n i wld not read too much into this relationship...anyways the late 'rock' tan chin tuan did not get along too well wif harry & the paps...that is why if u look at chin tuan's bio u wld notice that he did not contribute to govt linked orgns v much if at all...also did not sit on govt linked boards etc, which is a big surprise since he was a v eminent banker of his time...

it is only after chin tuan's grandaughter khim took over the reins of his empire that the links to the pap govt began to materialise...gather khim is now the chairman of NEA...also gather she is quite a big behind the scenes player in TT's bid for the PE...

That Tony Tan and LKY are closely related may not be big news for you BUT for this issue, especially for the masses, this is really big news.

agreed bro...like i said before, u hv crystallised the critical issues brilliantly...

i wld say it is now incumbent upon TT/PT n MOH to ans these questions in detail...no fudge r diversions...just stick to the FACTS...

i get the feel that TT n gang shall now just try to ride thru this 'storm' since msm probably shall take it up for obvious reasons...so it is also incumbent for the publicto ratchet up the pressure n make sure this episode does not go away...follow same style as in melvin chopin concert pianist tan's case...

I think rather than wait for his reply, the good side should continue its flanking exercise, except this time around, we attack the front and back simultaneously.

TT has to reply to questions to the billions lost by GIC while he was a big honcho there. Secondly, his family relations with LHL and LKY should also be brought out to the masses.

When the enemy is shaken, you do not wait for him to recuperate or to counter. You hit him again with something unexpected so as to weaken him further and to confuse him.

TT does not look like a strong-willed individual and even if he is, his age would have taken the fight out of him. This is a man who had everything given to him on a golden plate. He has not had to fight for what he wanted and it has been said that the PE role was not something he wanted. Let's see how far he can be pushed until he succums and realizes that it's a waste of his enerygy to ccontinue with the PE race.

Singaporeans do not ahve to wait for GE2016 to face the PAP again. PE2011 is here and it is an easier cake to be had.

Thanks Sam'Clearly this clownwas trying to bullshit when the stats and data does not support the concern for this disease.

PAP has failed the scrutiny test. Clearly, there is a ONE country TWO systems working in Singapore. Even
Meritocracy is always practiced, so say LKY - referring to his comments about Nanyang Pri School. Lesser mortals, you have been warned.
