Thinking of getting Crizal coating for your glasses?

For those who are thinking of getting spectacles from BKK, here is the prices I got from a shop in Sukhumvit:

Plastic lens Refractive index 1.7 15,000baht
Plastic lens Refractive index 1.67 8,500baht
Seiko titanium frames 6,000baht

My current pair which I got in Spore is a steel frame, glass lens high index 1.67 for $800
Can imagine why I didn't get the the 1.7 lens in Spore. It would have cost me over $1,000:eek:

Getting my next pair from BKK will allow me to get the thinnest pair with the best optics for under $1,000:)

Support Johnny on Issac. Well regarded, recommended by the medical fraternity for yonks.

My former optician came from the same time as Issac & from around the same part of town, from that old school of opticians, whom I trust. The reason I didn't use Issac was, i already have mine, saw no point in changing. My optician grown old ( you may have guess as old as Issac), but i do not like the 'passing' of baton, so I went to one, that descended from another old school optician.

What I was curious was, I know Issac shop for ages, from the time I was very young running around that area till I started working, still running around that same area. Like I have mentioned, on a working day, I could have passed that shop more than 10 times a day...for various purposes, that includes work, skiving etc..

Never tried Issac...maybe after reading now.:D

Some "girls" are very skillfull at using makeup.
That's why it's easier to listen for the difference:D

Sometimes, hearing maybe deceiving too..there are tell tale signs to look out for..& in doubt "HONK"..but make sure you jump aside after the "honk"..you may get a slap or kick you know where..ha ha ha ha

Anyone thinking of doing crizal lense better hold out for the next generation of lenses that will filter out blue light. Blue light is the light from LEDs that will kill retinal cells.. With the plethora of electronics and tvs using led display, scientists have even mooted that this blue-light induced blindness will be the next pandemic if nothing is done to protect the eyes. Retinal cells once killed do not heal nor regenerate. Very worrying.. google it...

For those who are already using spectacle waiting is not an option.

I don't know about others but even though my prescription has remained constant for years, I will replace my spectacles about every 5 years because they get really worn out by then. I've even had steel & titanium frames break from metal fatigue. If they survive intact I use them as a spare. I always carry a spare when I travel.

The highlight of my visits to Pattaya is to visit Walking Street & watch those "tall" girls.
Many of them are much better looking than our Spore girls :D

I've never felt threatened by these "girls" just amused by their antics:)
However can't say the same about Spore gals, can never tell about them. They've falsely accused guys of molest, physically & verbally abusing guys.

I know what you mean, my favorite road in Patong Beach area, Phuket, Thailand..a road, that sound like "bangla road"..where, like you say, watch the "girls" go by..

I visited Isaac & found put that my current glass lenses has the maximum high refractive index of 1.8 i.e. the thinnest possible with the current technology. Plastic high refractive index lenses can only go as high as 1.74. So they will be thicker than the glass ones but weigh less because plastic is lighter.

About Lasik , I found out that those that have it done may find that over time they will still need to wear glasses:eek: It seems that if it is done at an early age, ones eyes may still be vulnerable to getting weaker eye sight. If you are thinking of going for the Lasik procedure, I think it's better to wait until you are in the upper 20's. That's when your eyes stabilise .

Have to make correction about what type of spectacles are available in LOS. There are many, many,..... spectacle stores there. Spectacles with glass lenses are still available in Thailand. Optometrists can still get them from a local thai source. When I visited MBK I found stores that offered these "glass" lenses.

However I decided to get Hoya plastic Lenses because my current "glass" lenses poped out & broke:(. The Hoya lenses seem to be lighter but are thicker. They have 1.70 & 1.74 refractive index lenses. I have a severe case of myopia & for me the price is of course high. It is 13,464 baht for a 1.70 lenses. For the 1.74 lenses the price was 24,264 baht. The titanium Rodenstock frame cost me SIN$200+

The spectacles also qualify for a VAT refund. The store will give you a form be sure to have your passport serial number. When you are at the airport go to the VAT counter before you check-in. After checking-in & going through the security checks, go to the VAT refund counter inside & they will give you the $$$.
