Sincere call for KJ to withdraw and endorse LLL

He gave the residents a choice, he respects their choice and will continue to be there to serve them and then zip off back to the UK. LLL will disappear back to Aljunied GRC and DL will continue pounding the beat.

If he does not withdraw, he is going to have to face the media after the results are announced. Am looking forward to what he has to say.

How many of WP's rally supporters are from Punggol East? Easy to judge - check out the parking problem tonight. Also check out the crowds at the train stations.

Many kaypohs from other constituencies. They do not translate to votes. Also, you'll be surprised at how many PAP activists go to watch the WP rallies.

There is plenty of empirical data to support the assertion that PAP supporters do not attend rallies. There is no empirical data to support the assertion that RP supporters exhibit similar behaviour.

When the baseline was done, it showed PAP and WP in a statistical dead heat. RP and SDA were very far away from retaining their deposits.

As the campaign progressed, there were no indications that RP and SDA improved their numbers. In fact the bizzare way they conducted themselves suggest that their numbers have worsened.

There are plenty of signs that WP is pulling ahead. Rallies aside, we also have the offers of food and large numbers of people willing to have their picture taken. In the past, people were happy to shake your hand but reluctant to be photographed.

For PAP, it is hard to say. Their rally attendance has traditionally been poor and distorted by RC/CC participants. As they are the party in power, there has never been any reluctance to have pictures taken. There is therefore nothing to suggest how their numbers are looking.

am looking at KJ getting anywhere between 500~750 votes more than DL :p:p:p

The soothsayer hath spoken. I take it as a good sign. Personally my reading is that KJ should attract at least 3% at the very minimum. At this is despite me disliking KJ in every single aspect as a politician.

In a 4CF, the last party always get a very comfortable sub-1% score. So I am looking at DL 250 votes, KJ 1000 votes thereabouts, making a total of 1250 votes. So I am betting at the upper end of your scale (750 vote margin).

We are almost at the end.

KJ has not found the courage to face the truth. It seems unlikely that he will do so in the little time that is left.

I feel sad at the coming shaming of the Jeyaretnam name.

Actually both your forecasts are the same. Shihau said 500 to 750 more than DL. You need to add DL's 250 votes to get the gross.

KJ is retired, he has got nothing to do. He wants to be occupied and feels that perseverance is all that is required. There is also the dopamine effect of being considered as David fighting goliath in western eyes similar to CSJ. Both of them delivered speeches in Yale recently. It is really hard to get off the dopamine train. Winning is just a bonus.

I started this thread for the benefit of KJ. Other than withdrawing and endorsing LLL, there is no other viable strategy to play. At this point of the game, I don't think there is anything to suggest that KJ can win. Even loss of deposit is pretty much a given.

I don't know if I'm repeating anyone's post here - I didn't have time to read everything. KJ cannot withdraw, and I don't think he should. I still believe he has the intellectual capacity to contribute to taking down the PAPzis. But he has made a mistake here, and in time, must admit to it. He then needs to do what LTK has been doing - build up his party so that it has the organization and mobilization capacity fight the PAPzis. When that happens, LTK and the WP will have to take notice.

This current griping will not lead to anything.

HIllary also slam obama... then later she become his sec state.

But hor, what if WP step down and endorse KJ instead?

This is normal in politics. During the US Presidential Primaries, Romey's opponents said all sorts of nasty things about him. After he won the Nomination, they all lined up behind him and supported him.

As I wrote in my posting, this will be an immensely difficult thing to do. If KJ can let go of his pride and do the RIGHT thing, then he will earn back a great deal of respect.

If he cannot find the strength to do the RIGHT thing and let the PAP steal Punggol East, then he will destroy the legacy of his father.

That was hilarious. Maybe we should send press clippings of the KJ election results and the CSJ unity fiasco to the faculty of Yale to show them something about the "freedom fighting heroes" they invited to talk about Yale NUS.

Yes. Jim Sleeper can be fed anything by people who make themselves out to be victims of authoritarian govts and he will lap it all up.

Between 50 to 100 people showed up at KJ's final rally.

KJ was reduced to the pitiful sight of asking voters to spoil their votes and claiming spoilt votes were in fact votes for him.

For this BE, I expect the incidence of spolit votes to be very low as compared to the normal incidence. This is because of the growth in the branding of WP.

But KJ told reporters he is very confident that he will win this by-election wor. He said this towards the end of this clip.

For PAP and WP, today is going to be very long.

For KJ, it is going to slip by all too quickly.

clearly delusional, but he provides good comic relief :p:p:p
