In my case I have been a satisfied user of their computers for 30+ years. Many seem to agree with me because I see many people using their computers. I have also made plenty of $$$ investing in Apple shares. However I think it's too late to invest in Apple because it is a mature company.
You don't have to be a fanboy to recognise the fact that Apple puts a lot of thought & technology into their products. All this is facts & not made up by a "fanboy" Not all consumers are ignorant of this & that's why they buy Apple products. You will also see the competition copying Apple. There are plenty of Apple copy cats out there. The Steve Jobs of China is Lei Jun the founder & CEO of Xiaomi who goes around wearing a black T-shirt & jeans : )
Yes I converted from apple to Samsung and then Xiaomi a few years ago and i think Xiaomi is like Apple and better than Samsung.
Yes, I would think most Apple users rate security and user-friendliness as top priorities. The high cost and being locked in the Apple "cocoon" are secondary. And I can appreciate that. I have loved ones who are ardent Apple users. For me, I like to be able to download and use whatever app I want, from any source I can find. But then again, I don't use my Android phone for secured transactions. PC wise, the world is your oyster when you are on a Wintel platform. Yes, security is important. Hence, the need to keep anti-virus programs up to date. And the mandatory firewall. All being said, an Apple product, when functioning well, is easy to use. My sister, one of those ardent users, calls it idiot proof.

I've owned Apple shares for 19+ years. If I remember correctly at that time Gil Amelio was the CEO of Apple. It was After the Bondi beach iMac/iPod that Apple shares started going up & up. After the iPhone, it started it's meteoric rise.
I've also owned share in Dell, CISCO, Oracle,...etc so ownership of shares has nothing to do with being a fanboy.
