My current 5g plan is $22/ month from StarHub. Should I change to simba to cut cost ?

Simba plan is only $12/ month for 500gb

Can u retain my existing phone number ?

Switch to CMLink. If there's a promotion you pay only $5 per month. Number porting should be very swift.

And roaming perks in Hong Kong and Tiongland is unmatched by any other company.

SIMBA's reception is spotty.

CMLink has a booth at IT/tech exhibitions e.g. COMEX, you might get a gift or extra benefits if you sign up at the event.

On a related note, the Starhub shop at the entrance of Plaza Singapura is kaput, let's see what replaces it.

It has been there for many years, I have visited it quite a number of times.

Must have been done in by SIMBA and other MNVOs.

Suntec has a 'IT and tech' show now at the convention area. 'IT' now includes aircons, water purifiers, digital locks, furniture etc.

Look out for the Tiong telcos on the far left of the hall (your left as you step through the entrance doors). CMLink (China Mobile) stall has a huge floating balloon. Nearby on the same row there's the China Unicom (CUniq) stall. Many happy Tiongs crowding around them. Great deals for everyone.

Let's see when the third China telco, China Telecom, enters the Sinkie market. Perhaps when the PAP regime increases the population by another million or so. :roflmao:

CMLink leases from Singtel.
CUniq leases from Starhub.
China Telecom's MNVO will probably have to lease from SIMBA (which acquired M1) in future. Welcome to the new telco 三国演义.

Samsters who go to Jiuhu and Thailand regularly may consider to pay $12 simba plan
SIMBA's reception at basement is non-existent. Han's @ Odeon Tower basement, zero reception.

When I go NTUC FairPrice, if I am too deep in at the corner, also no reception.

I like going to McDonald's in the afternoon to drink Americano and write short stories for @Flibbertigibbet but whenever I'm at the corner furthest from the entrance, the reception is on/off.

It's pretty fuck-up.

It's similar to how Starhub was when it first arrived back in the late 1990s. At Pulau Tekong, poor or no signal. You had to either borrow a phone on a Singtel line or use the payphone.

But SIMBA has been around for quite some time. I started using SIMBA when it was known as TPG. It looks like they haven't done anything to improve the reception.

You can get a better deal with CMLink. Possible to go below $10.

If you are not a super heavy user, give additional 100Gb is pointless if the reception is poor.

SIMBA's reception in JB and Thailand is better than in Singapore. :frown:

That's my personal experience.

Starhub I don't know. But my bro-in-law seated next to me was unaffected at Han's because he was with Singtel.

How much does he pay for Singtel plan ? Worth the premium ?
He is on corporate plan, I believe $60+. Of course not worth lah. That stupid Han's located at basement but no WiFi. I boycott the cafe rather than pay a premium to get Singtel. These days cafes that do not provide WiFi will be deleted from my Book of Life.

Simba is super good in Bangkok but not in Singapore.
