@Rastafar ...Got la where dont have.... @Trader...All the Quotes you mention is still alive and Continuing.
My understanding about locals is this.. We enjoy Crude jokes and We enjoy Dry/Black Humor and Wacking each other race is still much alive...But why i think it doesnt effect each other is because The tones/words used doesnt really come from deep down inside with pure Hatred attached to it. Its more of Teasing each other and Singaporeans will Tease each other the moment any opportunity arises. Lastly, When it comes to Fights or Argument we dont side with own race but More on siding with your friends. A group of chinese friends arguing with a Group of malays doesnt show Racial war but more on We are Friends and we back each other up, Also can be said that if there is 8 Chinese and 1 Indian and that indian is being abused by another group of all Chinese. There will also back him up and will fight for him/With him. I guess there is defiantly A unity among Locals and Acceptance of one another is defiantly there. Stereotype will always be there when you dont know the person but that doesnt mean Hatred and when you know that person as an Individual the Stereotype on him will go but when teasing occurs the Stereotype will be used as a advantage. Today we can see Unity among Singaporeans raising even more, Singaporeans have banded together vs Foreigners. True blue Locals vs Foreigners/New citizens. I remember a few yrs ago, There was this babu Singh who was there with his Chinese friends playing street soccer, The babu Headed the ball and his Turban came off, Me and my friends laughed like crazy, His Chinese friends were furious and demanded we stop laughing and to respect his turban.. But it ended up with them getting slapped around not because of race but because One of the Chinese boys were extremely rude and all of them paid the price. My team was a Mix of 3 Malay, myself and one modern Singh btw.
