The first time I drove few days back got me stuck for 30 mins as it did not occur to me I have to use MCE to get from ECP to AYE. My only complaint was the authorities really have no common sense - you need to give drivers multiple alerts when a change of this nature takes place. Today they have done exactly that, "Use MCE to get to AYE". So they are not very smart indeed but otherwise theMCE feels excellent and the main benefits would be making access to/(from) Marina area a lot smoother. In fact it looks as if they want to make east and west traffic all converge towards marina area which is the new "central"

Good luck if that entire piece of reclaimed land in Marina Bay sinks.

What an irony, build an expensive expressway which forces motorists to use the ring roads.

Built expensive expressway to create congestion.....only pap can.

not necessarily a bad problem for the pap lor......

create an excuse to allow their cronies to leech off billions from the public funds.....then let the project create a fucked up traffic situation.....and best of all, use the ERP (everyday rob people) to top up the monies that went squandered....

As expected, the teething problems are over and this masterpiece of engineering is set to bring Singapore to even greater heights in the next few years.

Kudos to the PAP for building a city that we can all be very proud of.

Morning traffic on the new Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) appeared light and smooth in both directions as of 8am on Thursday, the first work day of the new year.

The Straits Times found that traffic eastbound on the MCE into Central Boulevard and the Marina Bay Financial Centre moved effortlessly. Similarly, westbound traffic – from the East Coast Parkway (ECP) into Central Boulevard – along the new superhighway moved along steadily.
Land Transport Authority (LTA) wardens were spotted along Central Boulevard observing the traffic.

Motorists had experienced heavy traffic and jams on the MCE on earlier on Monday with many complaining about poor signage and having too few lanes to filter into. The LTA has since expanded Central boulevard from two to four lanes to cope with the heavy traffic entering the Central Business District from this exit. More electronic signs have also been put up along the 10-lane MCE.
