Yeah, to the Sengs and Bengs, Subhas is the only lawyer they've heard of. But it police and legal circles, everybody knows Subhas is overrated. He's famous only for taking up high media profile capital penalty cases that no other lawyers wanted, and practically lost every one of them anyway.

I used a small Chinatown two-man firm lawyer to win my drunken driving case whilst under licence disqualification case. I was grateful to be so lucky and learned my lesson too. Though I walked off the court a free man, not even needing to pay any fine, I didn't bother retaking my licence even after 1-year disqualification was up. Take bus, MRT and taxi. For if one day, I really kill somebody on the road, no smart story me and my lawyer cook up can save me, or the innocent victim.

There are limits to what a lawyer can do. As long as the lawyer gets you the best possible outcome, I think it's a fair deal. The first stage is advice as to whether to PG or claim trial based on evidence. The second stage is making rep to AGC - reduction of charge, number of charges etc. If all else fails, to mitigate intelligently.

Some cases are fightable and winnable. If a lawyer screw up here coz didn't prepare adequately, that's a cardinal sin. Others, zero chance. Just mitigate.
