A lot of foreigners commit suicide here because they are attracted by the high exchange rate but are not fully aware of the harsh working environment with a pro business union .

Definitely there's more to this. Failure to attend a friend's wedding cannot be so critical. Meeting family members can be done using WhatsApp video calls or even Zoom meetings, no big deal. I think it could be more of a relationship and/or financial problem, which isn't revealed.
