Everyone has an opinion. Even monkeys.
With our better education focus, commitment to our sacred National Pledge & the Rule of Law - we Singapore, had uplifted many citizens lives - the rich as well as even a toilet cleaner's child to even University status.
However, it comes at a price.
As more achieved academically, as well as even skills such as ITE graduates to Nitec, Poly & even University thru our hardworking taxpayers funding,
ULTIMATELY, there would be jobs that none would want to undertake due to low salaries or even foolish social status, such as even sanitary, dead end clerical jobs, mundane factory operators, time consuming service jobs such as waiters/waiteresses, sweaty construction or Port jobs, UNLESS they are paid in thousands beyond what any local or foreign INVESTOR would bear, or even if could, WOULD ONLY PASS ON THE COSTS TO Singapore consumers & tourists - AND THEN no more would a $3 meal exist, no more would $2/litre fuel exists, no more would $400/mth hawker stall exists, no more would $300k BTO exists, etc, etc .
Therefore, a balance have to be STRUCK. Cheaper foreign labour to SUPPORT the lesser supervisory/mgmt levels, OR everyone have no job no matter how qualified one is no investor local or foreign will sink their funds here, the Nation has no revenues to fund social expenditures, etc.
Also, do consider - An Elected govt serves the basic NEEDS of its citizens AND NOT the WANTS of the electorate which can range from turning Singapore into an Islamic State, or a Lamborghini for himself, or a 3 storey home with a pool included, etc, etc of endless & even unimaginable desires from a Human whom dreams big but will NOT work for it themselves & blame everyone else for their own choice for poverty.
