For a moment, was wondering how the hell can Liverpool suddenly top table within a week ...... oh, oh, pardon me ..... just my wishful subconcious :p

The repercussion and consequence is serious if Liverpool failed to to all these 3 crunch games. It'll two seasons to recover, 1 season to qualify for Europe and 1 season to play in Europe again. There were examples of failures to recover such situations before. Nottingham Forest. Blackburn. Newcastle.

Ipswich Town; Leeds United.

a very good performance against Portsmouth, this morning.
with the return of Gerrard and Torres, and Aqualani slowly adapting to the English's game,we should be able to beat Lille and qualify for the next stage of the Europa League, this coming Friday.

Yeah a resounding 4-1 victory with Torres grabbing a double and also 2 assists, 1 down, 2 more to go this week - Lille and MU to complete the topping.

Lille should be a 90 min victory for pools, hopefully dun stretch till extra-time whatever, not good for the players and also not the condition we want the players ready for MU game.

Any idea what time the MU game KO? 12am sunday?

Glad of the 4-1 win ....

But reading Torres latest 'warnings' & Rafa's quiet resignation, I am mentally prepared for a period of darkness ahead & a whole new era to come.

Given the money reality & ownership wrangle, from now to end of season, anything that happens will be too little too late.

Mark my words, Rafa will leave & Torres too, for Pool to re-coup some cash.

Dunno if it will revert to the Boot Room culture of appointing managers (but what Boot Room remnants left - Sammy Lee? Phil Thomson? Kenny Dalglish? sigh .....) .....

Cheap alternative like Alex Mcleish ?
O'Neil will stay at Aston Villa for sure.

I think only when the Americans are FINALLY ousted can a real new dawn beckon ....

Till then the end of Rafa & Torres has begun .....

Sad. Sad. Sad.

Rearguard very important. Liverpool is one goal down and has no away goal. If Lille just scores one more at Anfield, Liverpool needs to score three. Lille is not Portsmouth.

True, u dun want to get screwed over again.

True again, Lille is not Portsmouth. They are worse than Portsmouth. C'mon Pool should win this easily.

Yeah right. Lille has only just qualified for European Champions League. Portsmouth is trying very hard to qualify for English League Championship. Newcastle United is in danger of being knocked out from there by Portsmouth.

This is the showdown. If Liverpool loses, 4th placing hope goes up in smoke. If Manchester United loses, defending title hope goes up in smoke. If draw, both are left in limbo.

draw will not do either party any good....a 3 pts victory is a must and not impossible

Manchester United 2 Liverpool 1

7 games left in season and any hope of 4th place is gone by now, not even 5th place, if we look at the table now realistically.

4. Tottenham Hotspur - 30 games / 55 points
5. Manchester City - 29 games / 53 points
6. Liverpool - 31 games / 51 points
7. Aston Villa - 29 games / 50 points

Maybe UEFA will come to Pool's rescue again with the winners of the UEFA Cup being allowed into the knock-out rounds of the Champions League next season.
