is it okay to keep big dogs in HDB flat?

yes, i did think it through, i enjoy the company of dogs rather than human beings.:D

hi there

1. bro, before you go ahead getting yourself a dog for your own "pleasure".
2. think it through man!
3. your responsibility to the pet, feeding, cleaning, maintenance, the walking.
4. and of course, affection for it.
5. if you are able to fulfil all of the above without hesitation.
6. go ahead!
7. btw, big dog makes big noise too and needs big space!

All the best to you Krafty if you gonna adopt a dog... I got a dog too, he's a Labrador.. Luckily he's a good friendly dog that also gets along well with my 2 cats.. Been having him for 6 years now.. Thankfully till now none of my neighbours has complained about him due to his easy going ways... When I was staying in Tampines, my kind old Malay neighbour who used to own a food stall always gave me a few of his unsold fried chicken drumsticks to be given to my dog back then... Train your dog properly so that he'll not bark unnecessarily at night... He'll be a good companion for you...

My grandpa used to keep a big dog when we lived in landed. It's old landed tradition to keep big dog to guard gate. After my grandpa and grandma died, the dog also died. My pa and uncs sold the the place and none of them keep dogs anymore. Neither do I. Silly to keep dog in HDB or condo. You don't have a gate to guard. It's just a door, hello LOL

why alamaking?

anyway to me, as long as you train your dog and dont let it anyhow bark until disturb the neighbourhood peace, i have nothing against big or small dogs.

in fact golden retreiver is much quieter than small dogs like toy poodle. i am a victim of a nuisance toy poodle barks from my neighbour:(

If a dog doesnt bark, it's not a dog. It's a cat.:D

I love dogs. So delicious. Makes me feel like going back to China again. :D

If you are going to break the rules I suggest you get a chicken:)
The only cost is chicken feed :D

You can get fresh eggs & they require less space than a dog & if you decide you don't like them, you can have a chicken meal.

Down side is if the chicken gets sick you will probably get avian or bird flu. H5N1 whatever that is, is deadly and fatal.:p

Husky don't bark

Husky are snow dogs and they do bark, may be not so much. I've heard of the african basenji that is probably the only breed that doesnt bark, that's why people say they are more like cats than dogs.:D

My HK friend says that too. Asked me to try when I visited HK earlier this year but I refused.

Is dog meat closer to beef or pork?

Some breeds seem exceptionally sensitive and paranoid... eg. chihuahua... they bark at the slightest sound. If you always have someone at home it is fine, otherwise you need to discipline and train your dog to behave. Main problem is when everyone needs to go out, the dog gets lonely and start to make noise. You need to put in effort to train him if you want him to stay quiet.

Errr... you obviously do not understand the concept of keeping a "pet". These days people who need guard employs a security guard, dogs are meant to be cuddled on bed.

I think vietnamese are also great dog eaters. You can try go vietnam for a change.:p

Got myself a Vietnamese girlfriend last year, for a couple months. She kept harping on how good Vietnamese dog dishes are. She promised that if I'd go back to Vietnam with her, she knows how to slaughter and cook dogs to perfection. Too bad her baggage is more than I could handle, in the process of divorce with a 4-year old daughter.

Dogs by nature are sensitive and also very alert with its surrounding, they are not paranoid. Barking is their natural way of communications. Dogs dont bark for no reason, they are trying to tell the owner something. You have to know what it is and train them, train them early. And if training doesnt help then there's always the debarking or cordectomy an elective surgical procedure surgery involving partial removal of a dog's vocal cords. Debarking does not take away the dog's ability to bark - it just makes it sound quieter and raspy (considered annoying by some).

Their stew dog is not bad, quite different from china. Probably because of different herbs and ingredients in the cooking. They are also great eaters of ox penis, they believe it improves a guy's virility. If you go with a vietnamese gal to ho chi minh they will surely recommend this dish to you.:p

Those chicken drumsticks given to you may be out of good will but it is not good for the dog. It may contain too much salt which is unhealthy for the dog.:p
