the atomic bombs were not necessary but did enable US to bring an immediate termination to the war without causing greater chaos in Japan compared to the planned land invasion of Japan proper.

Hypocrisy is not the issue as the sins of the white man belong to a different era. The "Human rights" movement started in earnest after the WW2 in response to the holocaust.

Prior to the WW2, many Western nations treated their own citizens, as well as those they colonised, in an appalling manner. Take 19th century GB for example, the penalty for stealing an apple was exile to the the penal colony of Australia.

The Americans also created the Korean problems by meekly giving in to Russians demands for a division of Korea at Tehran and Yalta, to exchange for Soviet Union entry in the war against Japan which the Russians never fought.

evacuation plans to Manchukuo was a contingency plan but I doubt the emperor and the Japan cabinet will leave the country. the Americans had literally achieved a complete sea and air blockade over Japan by early 1945. The problems with getting Japan to surrender was diplomatic, not military - the issue of unconditional surrender.
