[h=2]SAFRA clubhouse for NS men or foreigners?[/h]

[Letter sent in to TRE today, 17 Feb, Sun at about 3pm]
I brought my kids to the newly opened SAFRA Toa Payoh today, in fact, as I am writing this letter I am still at the kids indoor playground.
But it is quite disturbing to see so many foreigners here in a supposedly clubhouse build using public funding for locals especially national service men but instead, the foreigners are the ones enjoying the facility.
The indoor playground has a number of Angmo with their blonde hair babies enjoying a nice cooling Sunday afternoon in air conditioned newly built kids play facility. I can’t help but wonder would these Angmo Kia one day serve our NS but chances are they will follow their parents back to their home country when their work stint here expires. Even higher chances, they will finish their schooling here, take up all the space, enjoying the facilities here and just before they turn 18 for NS they will renounce their PR and move to US or Europe for further study.
I went to the 3rd floor and again a group of Pinoys (see photo) – at least 20 of them enjoying bowling at the clubhouse. It makes no sense to me because I am not a SAFRA member (I don’t see why I need to pay to be a member anyway, cause I did put in two and a half years plus ICTs for this country – but that before the garment gave free one year which won’t start until April 2013) so I am paying the same as the foreigners – Pinoy, Angmo, whatever….
SAFRA membership should be given free to all national services men why make us pay when the total membership fee is probably a small fraction of what it cause to build these places plus cost of maintenance. Why are foreigner allows to enjoy these facilities at the same rate as most local here ?
I was held back by work on 16 Feb otherwise I wish I can attend the protest at Hong Lim too, I profoundly oppose the garment immigration policy, I profoundly oppose the white paper…
