The problem is that the definition of peace and privacy varies from resident to resident. Vintage condos used to have very lax security. The guard would be sleeping all the time, no need to sign in. I went to a friend's vintage low-rise condos for games, makan, study sessions etc.

Also, the newer condos have better privacy. Your neighbours can't see you, and you can't see them. Lifts that open the door to only your unit.
