THE lorry involved in the accident that killed a cyclist on Changi Coast Road last Saturday was stationary at the time.

The cyclist, whose name was not given, was a 29-year-old Briton who was working in a bank in Singapore.

He is understood to have been riding in a small group along the popular 7km stretch when he collided with the rear of the lorry.

He was pronounced dead on the spot by paramedics.

This is strictly the fault of the cyclist as he hit the stationary vehicle. So the full force of the law should fall on the cyclist. They created the problems, they pay for it.

Good riddance to the Tour De France wannabe.

I used to cycle along the pavement of Changi Coast Road and I see many of these Ang Mo cyclist twats zipping along the road with their long-sleeved attire, tights, helmet, elbow guards, sunglasses and a sports water bottle.

If you have a death wish, don't be shocked if someone fulfills it for you.

wonder if the cyclist was dreaming or "pak jiao". such a huge vehicle and he couldn't avoid it?

He was using a Tribike with aerobars. Such bikes gives the rider a very aerodynamic profile to reduce drag to make him ride faster. The downside is that the body posture makes him look on the floor.

The cyclist simply did not look up and therefore did not see the lorry.

Thank you for confirming to be an idiot.

Stationary means already stop. Not moving.

昨天一辆脚车在樟宜海岸路撞上停在路边的罗厘,骑脚车的29岁银行职员当场惨死。I don't think you smart enough to understand this but I will take my chances.

No need to argue with this person cos he is like tonycrap.

This is what happens when you don't look where you're going...

A lot of cycling groups do the raceing wannabe drafting thingy which is essentially looking at your aero bars or at the backside in front of you

Yes you're right Aero bar are danger to other cyclists especially in group cycling!
He's probably looking down and not looking in the front, the truck parked along
coastal double yellow line. He broke away from his friends my guess and no one
shouted "FORE" and he crashed into the rear of the truck!

Rest in Peace! condolences to the family! very sad indeed on a Black Monday!

There was a thread on SBF a few months back where it was pointed out that a cyclist was killed when he slammed into the back of a lorry on Changi Coastal Road. It seems that the same accident on the same road has occurred. Also of note, the cyclist mentioned then was 28yo. This time the cyclist is 29yo. One coincidence too many.

This chap was only 28 years old and it was his first ride with our group that morning.

After 35 kms of fast ride, he was dropped by the group and being inexperienced he tried to catch up, but I guess he was too tired to be aware of the stationery truck
parked along the Changi Coastal Rd which he slammed onto.

The accident took place at 7.45 am and he was killed on the spot.

You're right.....am told that the stretch of Changi Coastal Road is not clean.

Must be Vegetarians, Meat eaters would have more than enough nourishment to give the cyclist, strength & alertness..

They must erect signs along changi coastal road that says " BEWARE OF LORRIES", "BEWARE OF CYCLISTS" & "CYCLIST BEWARE OF DARKNESS".
