So regardless the environment, it is the person himself to blame for his action. If the person do not know how to control himself/herself to NOT steal or gamble, don't blame others leaving their things around or casino at their doorstep. The problem lies within that very person.
So it is that person's stupidity or lack of ability to gather proper information to make proper decision. In any case, he/she is an idiot and like what they say, a fool and his money soon parted.

Well, it's all about priorities and trade-offs. If a law produces a net benefit for you, I'm very sure you would be advocating for laws and regulations. In the real world, the individual does not give a damn if it's state regulation or self-regulation as long as it serves his self-interests. If you think the state should let the people, individual citizens, decide whether they should kill or control their lust for blood, by all means lobby for the decriminalization of murder.

Personally (not party position) I have no objection against the casinos except for the S$100 entry levy. Why should casinos be banned or entry be levied just because there're idiots around bent on destroying themselves? Idiots should be allowed to destroy themselves and prudent gamers should be allowed to entertain themselves.

the government has made a decision to build 2 casinos despite the protests, we must live with it, else vote in the alternate party as government and get them to shut these things down.
if we blast casinos as culprits, go look at the other more obvious culprit - those 4D betting stations.

b) unlike casinos that levy 100 dollars and impose dress code, u can buy a quick pick for 50cents. You can go queue in your PJ or wearing g-strings
c) u can buy unlimited times, unlimited types of betting.
the only disadv, is that winnings / loses are known almost immediately in a casino.
so, if we are to ban casinos, i suggest we start by banning 4D betting outlets or minimum, restrict their operations.
I have not gone into race course yet - i have seen, bosses losing their pants / businesses just because of these 4-legged creatures, thats before casinso are in Singapore.
