how to know which type to choose?
why don't you google the specifications from SCDF?? if you are in SINgapore!!???
nah.that valve is not used for fire purpose
if you cut through from your urogenital passage to your rectum via the perineum, you get a 3-way valve.
how to know which type to choose?
Depending on chilled water piping design and routing.
In the past 3-way valve was popular in ACMV design.
Nowadays 2-way (motorized actuator) valve is prevail because it results in energy saving.
If you are practicing engineer, you should refer to any ACMV Handbook for details.
Heating, ventilation or air-conditioning?? you can google , can't you.

acmv subject is to wide.i am doing building automation for chiller control.need to understand why certain ahu they use 2 way some 3 way
BAS or BMS engineer does not need to specify for valves, unless the M&E Consultants ask for.
If so, just go with two-way valve as it is cheaper than three-way valve, last longer and easy to control via temperature sensor.
In fact three-way valve in air handling unit is not favourable anymore.
thank.
is favourable for BAS engineer to know more about acmv
since u know quite a bit on acmv..
do you know what is the different between SAF (supply air fan ) vs FAF ( fresh air fan )
or rather different between supply air duct vs fresh air duct
Supply air means it could be cool air from AHU or FCU, which is treated and clean.
Supply air is toward occupant areas.
Fresh air means outside/ outdoor air which is not treated yet.
Fresh air is commonly supplied for kitchen and machine rooms.
5-10% fresh air and 90-95% return air are to be treated by FCU or AHU and then supplied to occupant rooms.
Hope the above clarification is quite ok.
Cheers,
Me, graduated as mechanical engineer, but specialized in HVAC and energy efficiency.
My ex-boss was Lee Eng Lock, who is prominent person in this field worldwide.
If interested, you can google his profile and ideas.
Work with Trane or York?
O ok I googled and he is Trane. So you know Pay?
Is Mr Pay still at Trane?
He was one of my admired persons.
He and Mr Lee EL are quite close friend.
I worked as a Consultant, and of course dealed a lot of business with York, Trane, McQuay and Carrier.
I don't know but I was pretty close to some of them way back 2005. Best salesguy at the time was Yunos with Leow as Maintenance backup. Guess Pay retired as by now he should be in his 60's.
