Of course there're seasons and flowers and animals in HK mahjong, which is the most common version played in Singapre. A 9-circuit suit hand is easy to game but can only worth 4 doubles in payouts without seasons, flowers or animals. With a 9-circuit hand, it's not possible to game real lake or even fake lake for upping a double. The ways are hoping for seasons, flowers and animals, or take the risk of showing you triplets (the 1s and 9s) when chance comes hope for an extra double over flowerpot top. You can collect bonus on showing triplets, but the bigger prize may be all lost if you don't game and someone games before you, So. it all depends on the stage of the and the tiles already played on table. Work out your probability whether it's worth the risk or not.

As Ram explained 九子连环 only wait 9 tiles but no extra double when game.
You lugi the 杠 also.
Some Hongkies also play with jokers tiles like 非 and 听用.

This is not a gaming hand. If you try to game like that, the penalty for fake game is pay all other players max limit each. There're also no flowers in this hand. All the winds in triplets except there's only one west wind. The four strikes should be shown to collect bonus payout and bonus draw on flowerpot top. Depending on your wind position and luck of the draw, you may yet game with a 5-double limit hand. But it's a hard hand to game since another west wind is the only gaming tile and there's no possibility of a four-wind-suit game unless you take the wild risk of throwing your strikes in hope for two more west winds.

I think he meant flower as double....as in 番，台。
Different place might count differently.

I see 对对(2)，纯字(5)，发财(1)，小四喜(4),
Also see if got 正风 and 圈风 can add 1 double each.
Then any 花/杠上糊....海底捞月etc....

Yes it's known as 九连宝灯 in some places they count as limit.
Different laws must agree beforehand.
I brought my dad to casino play blackjack he got triple 7 he ask the croupier how come no 7 times payout....at least pay triple....

Yes, although most rules are traditionally set and understood, some not-so-common rules must be agreed behorehand. For example, play up to 5- or 6-double limit, thrower pays all or split half-half among other losers etc. Then some mahjong sets have fly joker tiles...
