My point to those who speak out for the Jews: stop worshipping Jews, they are ordinary human like you and me.

I tend to agree that as a small nation they are very far advance in technology in many areas of industry. They are very innovative and many of them excel with a few being Nobel Prize winners. Singapore has not produce any and will not for a long time, maybe never, thanks to the government.

Chinese not bad too. The invention of compass allowed China to become the biggest country on earth 4,000 years ago. They could keep exploring and expanding without getting lost. Moses wandered around for 40 years in the Sinai area as small as one Chinese state and couldn't find Canaan that was reasonably nearby by Chinese standards. As recent as just around 500 years ago, Zhenghe could sail to and fro Africa with ultra-armada sized fleet without getting lost. Christopher Columbus went sailing for India and ended up thinking America is India. Fluke blessing in disguise though. God balances the world in mysterious ways.

Success by your own definition? By my own reckoning yes they are better than other in some areas, like finance. But same goes for all other races!

I didn't say successes in all fields. Anyway, I'm not a Jew. They can suddenly fall as spectacularly as in holocaust and there's nothing I can concern or do about. I'm just speaking from history and stats, not overstate.

Fact is the Jews do not ask for special treatment unlike, say, the Muslims. So no need to be angry.

Fact is the Jews only want their homeland but there are reports of influential Muslims wanting to islamise the entire world.

Fact is no one forces you to believe that the Jews are God's chosen people nor forces you to defer to the Jews.

Fact is you have freedom of religion in Israel but you have no freedom of religion in Arab countries.

1) Jews are no different to any other member of the human. Physically they have no special endowment. In essence they are not born intelligent or stupid just like any other race.

2) Minorities in any society tend to outperform the majority overtime as they are the underdogs and have a need to prove a point. It no different to Chinese and Indian kids who outperform the caucasian majority in the US, OZ and other 1st world countries.

3) Culture, religion etc do help accelerate or decelerate performance. Judaism, Sikkism, Zoroastarianism etc are minority reglions and have very similar practices and their followers outperform the followers of major religions as they tend to be more parochial, defensive and sensitive to outside pressures. Again its not the religion like the race that is superior to other races but they are a minority and they tend to try harder.

4) Unfortunately these minority culture in in view of the enhanced need to protect their practices tend to resort to favoritism, nepotism and parochialism to protect their creed and end up incurring the wrath of others.

5) The Jews fortunately or unfortunately have taken to money lending or usury and dealing with highly liquid instruments such as diamonds in whatever country they are found. Money lending is never a noble vocation where ever it is done and by whoever does it. The Sikhs are also notorious for money lending.

6) The Balfour Declaration that led to birth of Isreal was a British initiative that was heavily lobbied or sponsored by European Jewry. It was supported by white gentiles who were hoping for Jews to leave Europe. Unfortunately they did not factor the Palestinians who also share the same homeland. Until and unless they include the Palestinians in any equation, there will be no peace.

Generally the common man tend to distance or dislike cultures and religions that are parochial or tend to project themselves as superior.

Well said.

The Greeks and then the Romans were responsible for much learning and philosophy in ancient times. They also invented many things, including the predecessor of concrete. But the fall of the Roman empire saw Europe engulfed in religious fervour that repudiated pre-Christian pagan ideologies.

It was the Muslim world that systematically researched into Greek and Roman learning and in many cases bettering them. The Muslims introduced the zero to the Roman decimal system, for instance. And they also developed the alchemy of the Europeans and developed it into the beginnings of the chemistry we know today.

Is this a "praise the Muslims" posting? No. I merely want to illustrate that most achievements in the world developed on the shoulders of earlier developments and no one race can lay claim to have started it all. Also, very few things are invented by one person only. Could Edison have invented the incandescent bulb had there not been electricity in the first place. Must he have invented electricity to be able to claim to have invented the bulb? What about the discovery of tungsten? And it goes on.

Back to the thread. If, indeed, there were an increase in anti-semitism in Singapore, I'd be very very sad, and worried, not because I think Jewish people are special or chosen, but because it means the harmony I once knew is gone. I remember attending a Shia wedding here in Singapore at which some Jewish people were esteemed guests. I hope to be able to see something like that again.
