Ok as we all know HK was leased to the brits for 99 and finally returned to china in 1997 but i would like to know your opinion if an alternate future took place instead.
Suppose the brits starting importing say ok turkish ppl to HK. What happened is that the population census of Hk ends up with more turkish people than chinese ppl and another race say indian ppl that make up the smallest minority in HK. So now HK has 3 of the most significant populations. Turkish are the majority at 75% while chinese number around 15% and indians at 10%.
Anyway in 1997 the brits return HK to china but at that time the govt of HK has a very ambitious and smart turk that not only runs the political party that runs HK and ends up being Hk's leader but somehow wants to enter politics in china. It's not really important but for whatever reason the big honchos in china's politics decide to throw out HK from the PRC. They don't want HK anymore the pearl of the orient. Therefore HK isn't a part of china anymore but an independent nation. Now HK is right next to china. The leader of HK being a turkish man decides to give china "face" and makes cantonese/chinese the national language of HK. The next step in securing the security of HK would be to force all the males of HK into serving mandatory military service whether it's air land or sea for 2 to 3 yrs.
HK is a seperate nation right next to a giant china and nearby is another country that has the same culture as china, taiwan. HK has a majority of turkish people in this alternate scenerio and they obviously don't belong in the region being alien to it i suppose. Anyway they run the govt of HK and they relegate the chinese citizens of HK into serving unimportant military units and prevent them from serving important units in any of HK's military and even political positions. The reason given is they are afraid that these HK chinese citizens might give away secrets to their relatives in neighbouring china. Anyway let me clarify this to you readers. In this world HK has more or less always been occupied by the chinese ppl. When the brits took over HK they brought in foreigners or ppl alien to the region. Turkish people. When the lease of HK expired they returned HK to china but china kicked HK out and didn't want HK to be part of china anymore.
Here's my question. Do you feel pity for the chinese citizens of HK that are being discriminated even though they have occupied HK for thousands of yrs but only recently had newcomers live in their country? Do you think that the chinese citizens in HK deserve pity even though the govt of china kicked HK out of china and not becos they were forced to give up HK. Do you think that the turkish ppl should be commended for making cantonese the national language of HK even though the majority of HK consist of turkish people and that chinese ppl only make up 15% of HK's population.
Let me remind you again that even though china kicked out HK it has always been inhabited by chinese ppl since HK is next to china therefore would you feel sorry for the chinese ppl based on the story i described?
Just tell your thoughts.
