The US is not a free market economy anymore. It used to be in its hey days. Just look at the giant Titan monopolies. From Microsoft to Google to Boeing to Northrop Grumman. No competition.

China on the other hand is like US in the 70's before the M&A frenzy. They got multiple fighter plane manufacturers like what US used to have. Similarly in other industries. It's like 5 big economic regions competing with one another. So costs are kept low. And competition and innovation are intense.

No matter how you see it, America is clearly losing to China, especially under Trump. 5 years from now will be even clearer. America will then be relegated to World's #2. Watch my words.

Although I'm not a fan of the CCP, but unfortunately this is the inevitable as Trump is clearly ruining the America Inc and only enriching himself, his family and his cronies.
