Sabah and Sarawak are doing very well in terms of tourism and trade. They are still part of Malaysia, although there are laws in Kuala Lumpur that protect the interests of the Sarawakians and Sabahans. People from Peninsular Malaya cannot simply enter into these states as and when they like. There is a law and requirement to do so.
46 years have gone past.. Have we been left lagging behind? Would'nt it be better if politicians at that time were not selfish but had thought about our future generations survival and made a right decision. Prior to independence, goods from Malaysia were moved to the world through Singapore. Is that the case today. We are competing head on in every aspect. Will Jurong Industrial Estate survive the challenge from Iskandar Project.
In my opinion, being part of Malaysia as an autonomous region, we would have benefitted much more. Our goods could have been manufactured in Malaysia. We could have focussed on R&D.
I am a proud Singaporean but sometimes my mind wanders aimlessly and those good ol days come flashing back when lorries laden with timber (logs), bales of rubber, baskets of fruits, fishes and other produce from Malaya made its way to Singapore along Bukit Timah Road. Please don't take me as anti-Singapore for I love this land on which I grew and lumbered.

Friend, you haven't tasted "ketuanan melayu' yet? I rather be a beggar in singapore than living under those mats.

The Hakka bastard want eveything to himself and hate opposition parties so how can he get along with Malaysia oppositions. When he won back the election in Hillview Ave Estate from opposition Ling How Dong see how he demolished the whole estate and dispersed the voters.

Now Singaporeans have to survive and compete with Malaysia becos of the Hakka bastard.

no...we r better off getting out of Mudland.

don't compare Sabah & Sarawak- they are so different - they are zillion times bigger than Sinkapore.

if we had remained in Mudland, we will be worse off than Perlis.

just think...Mudland is so many times bigger than us, why hadn't they did better than us? They could have easily overwhelmed us economically - given that resource wise, they are much much richer than us. Oil, rice, tin, rubber...

One wonders really. Suppose it was David marshall who was PM or even Yew Hock. Might be the KL guys would have taken better to them. Somehow Old Man simply was too abrasive, hotshot and disrespectful of the Mats. That was why they gave him hell.

how to bully a bully?

You can only cornered a bully and throw him out.

Just see if Penang is progressing, then you know if it is a mistake or not..

I think the data below is a good reason that we strike out on our own. How far have we gone since 1963 in comparison?

calling sabah and sarawak a paradise. crazys. the brown skins in sarawak dun even get bumiputri status, and kuala lumpar steals all their oil money.

if singpie was still under the UMNO, they'll turn us back into fishing village so other states won't hve so much competition from us.

Agreed. Much as we dislike the PAP policies, at least for the past 10 years or so, we will definitely not be better of if we are still in Malaysia. We will be suffering under the NEP or more commonly known as the bumiputra policy. For this, I give credit to the PAP govt.

Are you all nuts?

SGP did not have any control to decide anything. LKY pissed off Tunku and got KICKED OUT!

Understand?

BOOTED OUT! Kicked In the ASS! & told to Fuck Off!
OK?

No way to be part of Malaysia although the Old One had entertained some thoughts a few years back (I believe recently he has changed his mind again) that it could enlarge Singapore 's hinterland. But Singapore and Malaysia have moved too far apart for too long without the continuous mutual influence in political, economic and cultural development. It is like creating a mini Eurozone. It won't work.

Singapore didn't quit Malaysia. Singapore was kicked out.

Thank God we got kicked out!

LKY's pride was at stake and he set the nation on a growth path that can only be said is a 'miracle'. But there was much we had to sacrifice to reach where we are today.

Question is how long more can we carry on like that?

They have resources aplenty. We got people who focus on generating money at all cost. Today our currency is so much stronger than theirs. But will it continue to be like that for the next 10,20,30 years? I doubt so.

Better buy house in KL now when we can still afford it. :D

Alright, granted that S'pore was kicked out rather than quitting, what Kohliantye real question is whether S'pore would be better off remaining in Malaysia or out of it. From most, if not all of the opinions expressed, the answer is obvious. We would all be suffering under the discriminatory policies of affirmation practised in Malaysia.

Malaysia is better off after booting out LKY & SGP.

SGP is worse when LKY got the whole red dot to fuck around with, and without UMNO to counter balance that Moronic Bastard. ;)

In a Taiwanese talk show, they were talking about Sinkingland and one blurted out, "Wow ! So, can mainland China do likewise by kicking us out too ?" As you can see, some of them are desperate.
