Yeah, all kinds of designated shopping stops. We understand these are all commissioned but nevermind. I didn't buy much but my wife had her fill of shoes and bags. We didn't buy foodstuff like sharkfin and birdnest since we have no idea how to cook it anyway. The adventure part was of course the free and easy hours on our own without tourguide and tour bus. That's when adventure turned boring with the language barrier, though we understand the universal language of numbers - they were trying to overprice and con us most of the times.

bro..sometimes language barrier is fun too .
in thailand always ask for discount except those high class shopping mall of course . bargaining is fun in thailand too ...

One thing I like about Phuket is the night open air seafood restaurants. Me and my wife had a feast of lobsters and crabs to our hearts' and stomachs' content for less than 2,000 baht. Can't have it at such price in Singapore.

Everyone talking about renting a motor bike, but what about renting a bicylcle:confused:

Strange that I haven't seen this option being offered in places like Pattaya? You get exercise & the slower speeds let you appreciate the sights more:smile:

I agree the loop hole has full of loop holes.:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin: I don't mean Singaporeans can own any land here la but at least for the few of us staying here and "owning" it through the company or spouses here Singaporeans will get jealous.

The problem is the word "own" used in this context is a misnomer. I believe it creates misconception among Singaporeans (that we can somehow own a landed property in Thailand) more than it arouses jealousy.

Even Thais think that foreigners can own landed property if they marry Thai ladies. There is absolutely no ownership rights. One does not have to wait for the Thai wife to pass away before the foreigner for shit to hit than fan. She can always transfer to her b/f and the foreigner can do nothing about it.

I beg to differ. If we talk about nightlife, Singapore nightlife is second to none in the world. Where else in the world can you party from sunset to sunrise on a shoestring budget in a first world city?

thai cannot party until sunrise ....tokyo can party for 3 days ...but expensive ...so the best is still singapore nightlife ...cheap and good .

according to the law, foreigner also cannot own land in singapore

Yes, and applies in Malaysia too, not only Thailand and Singapore. Landed property must be owned by locals. Foreigners can only buy or lease highrise private apartments and condos. However, the situation in Singapore is more liberal as PR is granted liberally to foreigners marrying Singaporeans and enjoy joint ownership rights. That's not the case in Malaysia and Thailand. Marriage is your private business. Still no PR, still no land rights.

drifter, foreigner can own landed property in japan or not ?

foreigners have no problems acquiring land in Japan. a foreigner can buy, sell own a business in Japan with out having a visa, with that being said you only can hold a 90 day tourist visa as a singaporean ...every time you enter Japan and once you own property or a business in Japan you can come and go as you please but with only a 90 day visa of course.

real estate agents are more then happy to help foreigners who want to purchase property as long as you have the money, remember you will not be able to borrow money in Japan unless you are a permanent resident or citizen.

Ramseth, are you saying that the longest thread in Sammyboy Forum - Living in JB, those who bought landed houses in Horizon Hills etc. bought only a lease ?

Makaned Inter MIlan1i ball. Opponent, don't know what name, won 1nil. Makaned Villa. Bolton won. Seepayhosayliao. Recovered weekend losses 50%.

2nite I take Chelsea pang keu. Man City also pang. Placed several other smaller bets too.
