TJS has no chance of winning even if TKL didn't contest because he can only get the hardcore opposition votes only and this cannot beat Tony Tan. It is really wishful thinking that he could make it. TKL's supporters are mainly family members of minibond saga and those who truly believe in independence and non-partisan.

WP members and activists did help out TCB campaign as well. Of course, none of the WP candidates spoke on his stage.

I still agree that TKL withdrawal would not have helped TJS win, but we will never know how much of an impact TKL's sour surprise revelations about his relationship with TJS were on the results. Did any TJS supporters defect to TCB camp because of that? Perhaps without TKL, TJS may have scored 30s.

Fact is, TKL's withdrawal could have meant a win for TCB.

Agree about the humiliating 6 years. It will be worse than Nathan. Many people felt TT was going to win anyway. It was because of the narrow margin that people blamed TJS. But the fact that it turned out to be 35.2 and not 60.1 says alot.

Possible to remind us what accusations were thrown at TCB? I dont remember any dirt being thrown at TCB. I will say that it is overall his inability to convince voters with his overly principled style. His take on salary was somewhat under the belt when he said it is akin to vote buying. He knows very well it is not (as defined by law). Think about growth package, hdb upgrading, etc where beneficiaries are voters. He could simply have said something like lets not talk about something that is currently under review, and just reassure us that he is not in it for the money.
