I was among the crowd that proudly recited the Pledge on that hot balmy night at the Serangoon Stadium last May... It will be the only Pledge that I will recite this year...

The one ones in front were very cooperative to sit down so as to allow the ones standing behind to see. The home-made props , banners and flash cards were no less creative and entertaining than those designer-made ones used during national day parade. That pledge was like a lion's roar that carries a strong conviction and sense of pride.

I was there when Low thia kiang led the Serangoon stadium crowd to say pledge on May 5 2006.

It's like I've always said the pledge as a schoolboy ... but on that night, I finally understood what it meant.
