let see i got the name correct.

david lee, pathma, lim tong hai, borhan, abbas, tokijan, hashim haron, malek, razali, zulkilfi, fandi, sumdram, steven tan, k kannan, lee mon hon, rafi ali, nazri nasir, rudy kairon, kadir yaya, selveraj.

just look at the standard of the then singapore team and the current setup. really no horse run.

Not bad, U manage to name most of the starting XI.

If i am not wrong, Sundrum bicycle kick was the last goal (8-0) against brunei. Personally, that was the best SG football team. But not sure how they compare to the 70s team.
!&!!

singapore no more the same as in the late 90's? with pap opening the floodgate and letting all the FT inside.
Singapore is no more our country. therefore no point to support the singapore football any longer.

The team in the late 70s is better, we use to beat North Korea, Japan, even China :)
But player wise, Fandi and Sundram are still the two best players we've ever had.

Agree nothing to shout about.:D

I disagree, Malaysia cup is about the rivalry. The us against them... do you understand ? :)
Of course the passion may not return immediately, and without a big stadium it will be difficult for the next two years.
But in 2014 when the new stadium is ready, the passion will definitely be back....

is not really the National team re-joining the M cup lah....

it is just that the young lions will be playing in M League and M cup.

And the Young Tigers playing in S league and FA cup

we will not be able to bring back the atmostphere 20 years ago. Simply because of the live telecast of EPL and other european league on TV now.

National Stadium gone, Sports Hub not ready, Jalan Besar Stadium so small that any Jalan Besar wave would hit the end before reaching a crest. Solution - let's host the matches at the world famous floating platform! The playing area is naturally wavy and the water polo team can be called upon to be ball pickers.

The S league is just a bloody waste of time and money... :(
FAS should just concentrate on the Malaysia Cup.

What is gone is gone. Nowadays sports in Spore is about importing foreign sportsmen & $$$.

There will be lip service about the Malaysian cup but little "real" support from above. Something like the talk about cutting MPs pay, but I don't expect much action:rolleyes:

Agreed. Think "conserved" Bugis Street, "revived" Chinatown, and Malay Village!

Why no Mohd Noor and Eric da Pain(e) or Nasir Jalil, Quah Kim Song and Camel? Are they not good too?

Mat Noor can dribble but cannot score...
Nasir Jalil aka Crazy horse, runs around aimlessly, scored equaliser in 77 cup final. Help us win that year...
Eric Paine ? Edmund Wee is better...
Kim Song, speed demon, a bit like micheal owen. But when the speed is gone, both pretty ordinary...
Raja, only can remember his corner kicks...
:D:D

Ehh mana Jang Jung? Couldnt be Abbas the only foreigner in the team right? i remember Alistair left the previous year, was Win Aung from Myanmar in 1994 squad too? K.Kannan paired with Sudiat Dali last time, these 2 should be before 1994 squad....., tokijan was not in 1994 squad also.. he was the captain of singapore, definitely not in 1994...

Craig Foster, Warren Spink, Sandro Radun.....

Sandro Radun was the worst keeper we ever had, second only to that Kelong goalie Abdul Malek..

Well done Sammyboy bros for your encyclopedic knowledge of our past Lions players..:)

Now try rolling out the names of our present national players, and I think we'll all struggle to name our national team's present first XI..

the hundred thousands of FT thrash pap brought into our country has already diluted our own national identity. we can never have that kallang roar back.

as a teenager i used to travel to national stadium alone to watch malaysia cup as all my pals are not into soccer. nowadays, s-league FOC show on tv i also not interested.

fuck u pap :oIo::oIo::oIo: u have betrayed singaporeans

Has Singapore become one of the states of Malaysia - like Johore or Kedah? Why are we in the Malaysia Cup? We should be playing international soccer against Malaysia or Brunei or Indonesia. If we, as a sovereign country, cannot play soccer at international level then we should find the right people to up our standard. Why play against states of Malaysia? No standard.
