If my tax money is going to pay for scholarships, I rather it go to pay for a future civil servant and for that I want the best, not some misguided leftist notion that scholarships (and consequent civil service jobs) should go to the less privileged. If you are good, you will still get the scholarship and make it to the top, even if you are born poor, Mr Goh Chok Tong by way of example.

If there was a toss up between Hong yi and some one else, both having identical results, I rather see the less priveleged one getting the scholarships. All things being equal, the Lees are more able to pay for a uni education than some other commoner. U can apply the same logic to other wealthy families. Did John and Robert kennedy get scholarships to study at their unis? Did George Bush and Jeb Bush get scholarships too? Of course not. U better wake up your ideas.
