The Shanghai authorities are investigating batches of oranges coloured with toxic dyes and have ordered fruit stall vendors to pull them off the shelves, the Oriental Morning Post reported on Friday.

The case came to light after consumers in Pudong complained that the colouring rubbed off when they held the oranges or wiped them with tissue paper.

The latest food safety scare involves poisonous industrial wax, which can cause damage to the immune and respiratory systems in people, the paper said.

The very orangey color oranges you see in Shop n Save n other fruit stalls all from China.. I suspect they contain colorings injected into them or grown with chemicals to make them so orangey... Stay far far away from China food if i were you.. not worth the $$ savings if ur health is damaged...

You are right. Between them and the ah nehs, i will rather starve than buy food produced by them. Something in their sick minds tell them that money is more important than the health of others.

If eggs and soy sauce they also want to make counterfeit, what else can be excluded? Nothing. Chinese products, except food, are ok.
