Has anyone experienced sleep paralysis?

yeah, getting old is no fun. Father time is a merciless twat. But it is what it is, we can only do our best to age gracefully.
It is most unfortunate that I laboured under the notion that an active lifestyle running, playing tennis and football etc. would result in a fitter body and less ailments. Too bad, nobody told me about the wear and tear on my knees.

Take glutamine for joint health. Go and lift free weights. I lifted free weights from 19 to 37. Till a herniated disc and a pinched nerve ended my hobby (overloaded my squat of 120 kg) Looking to get back soon as I got no more pain. Muscle atrophy starts around 30s. Lifting weights slows down this process. Take magnesium supplements for better sleep. I am not sure about your pre existing other health conditions. Do some research and consult your doctor before taking any health supplements long term. I have insomnia and other problems (genetic). Currently, on Magnesium Clycinate. My sleep is good. Previously, on Magnesium Taurate. My only issue is the afternoon slump between 2pm to 4pm.
The massages by my physio and exercises recommended by my trainer have helped, but it is $163 per 1/2 hour so I stopped the trainer's sessions, after learning the various techniques that I apply at my condo gym 5 nights per week.

Sleeping pills like Zolpidem induce a state of sleepiness while not fully shutting down other parts of the brain responsible for movement and complex actions i.e. may result in sleepwalking.

Of course the exception is taking drugs. We are talking about normal folks without the influence of hallucinatory drugs.

Massages and physio are fine. Glutamine and weight lifting maintains the joint integrity. Of coz, don't follow my previous mentioned example. Getting a foam roller helps too, but this is beyond my expertise.

There was one time my pinched nerve (that branch that runs from the lower back thru my pelvic bone and to my left leg) was so bad. I couldn't walk at all. Had to crawl out of my bed using both my arms reached out and grabbed my hp from my desk (to call the ambulance) Fortunately, that ended years ago.

I have knee arthritis so I do wake up with knee pain when I get off my bed and step on the floor.
That's quite serious.
I have this problem when I stood up from the ground level if I sit or squat on the ground for some time. From bed level no issue.

You are not alone. I have two friends who were avid footballers. They now have knee issues. My preference was (and still is when I feel motivated enough) swimming and cycling. I gave up tennis after developing elbow aches. Whatever it is, let's do our best with the cards we're dealt with.

and was fit as a fiddle at age 62 suffered a heart attack while on his bike.

It is more stiffness than pain. During the day, I will suffer the same discomfort when getting up from a chair after sitting down for too long.

it never happened to me when I stayed in SAFTI for about 11/2 year, for those who knew SAFTI 'E' Block, SAFTI is a dirty place, many ghost stories.
It happened to me at home, when we were 20+ we would wake up at 4am and cycle to Changi Point, take our breakfast and cycle back. From Kallang Airport to CP.
So tired straight away knocked out on the bed. In the afternoon, I was awoke, oblivious to the surrounding but I can't move at all.
I slowly moved my fingers then my toes, after that I was able to move up. It happened to me in the afternoon. Day time where got ghost.
Conclusion: Fatigue causes Sleep Paralysis.

i had a few experiences ...........

the 1st one was scariest - i woke up and saw a shadow being move towards me and i felt hot + open mouth but can't make a sound + can't move..............

" felt hot + open mouth" is ok as long as don't feel something shafting in/out into your mouth can already.
