HK belongs to China; an undeniable facts of life. No matter what other countries can bellow and rant over politics in HK, China will not allow outsiders to decide how HK should be run. 50 years of free rein for HK is just written on paper. The commies always never believe in written paper if their national security is threatened. After all, HK is just outside their front door.
As for SG, it belongs to the locals, and not to any other country. Float or sink, LKY knew what to do. Some people might have hated him for what he had done but then facts are undeniable facts. Without LKY and his team standing up against the extremists next door, SG might have been a part of mudland today. No Pappies, no WP. So, apples and oranges cannot be compared.
Better to let NS stand in EC to try win in GRC against pappies than to stand in SMC. Which is better? Winning 1 seat or winning 4 seats? The pappies knew chances of losing EC GRC very high, so they parachuted Ah Keat from Tampines to block WP from pau chiak EC. If no Ah Keat in EC, this GRC likely gone to WP.
